What is the opposite of Thanksgiving!

Top of the weekend my friends! What is the opposite of Thanksgiving? Predictably this kinda feels like a trick question?

However it’s not! But ”what immediately popped in your head” after you read this question?

Here’s why I ask? We’ve been unconsciously programmed to miss the meaning of the day! It’s two words “Thanks and giving”!! Also add take a plate home with you day! Leftovers are your friend!! Sorry I digress.

Now back to the subject at hand! “You gotta know where you’ve been in order to know where you’re going”!

History Lesson: In 1621, the English colonist and the Wampanoag people did just that, They shared a meal together according to tradition. The place “Plymouth”. The meal was turkey because they were easier to catch. The Wampanoag added duck, eels, shellfish and vegetables. Also add “Beer” the beverage of choice on their first celebration. What could possibly go wrong with that?

Anyway this celebratory meal, lasted from 1621 to 1675. Then King Phillp’s war broke out! This was a war fought by men, not trained soldiers and by families not just Indian warriors. Hundreds of colonists and native Americans lost their lives. This takeover would forever change the status quo relationship between the two groups. Fast forward.

On October 3, 1863, President Abraham Lincoln would proclaim November 26 a national day of thanksgiving.

Then years later, President Franklin D. Roosevelt and Congress in 1942 designated the 4th Thursday in November as the national holiday we celebrate today. Now that you know the history, I ask again “What is the opposite of Thanksgiving”?

Maybe I’m naive but hopefully your answer will surprise us. May it pique our interest and make us want to explore new horizons together.
