What is the ONE best way to solve all problems?

What is the ONE best way to solve all problems?

Have you too experienced that every problem has an element of uniqueness?

When I coach organizations, I come across problems that sound the same yet they are so different. Two of my clients are from the construction industry. Both have the same problem, attrition! Yet, the reasons for attrition are ‘not’ the same. They are different.

In the last 3 months, two of our close couple friends have filed for divorce. Both couples have the same problem, anger! Yet, the reasons for anger are ‘not’ the same. They are different.

We helped one organization solve their attrition problem through flexi work timings, great retention bonus and an exceptional incentive system. Would the same work for my second client? Nah! Why?

The second client had high attrition because the owner’s wife had created a toxic atmosphere. The above solution wouldn’t have worked there.

To solve a problem requires a keen eye for nuances to craft a proper solution.

To achieve this, what has worked for me is to approach a problem with a fresh and curious mind. I ask a lot of questions, take a lot of notes, and keep pushing deeper till I get to the ‘why’ (iceberg principle) of the problem.

?I follow these three steps religiously…

1. The best way to solve a problem is to first understand the problem.

2. Do not pretend to be a ‘know it all’ and rush into a solution.

3. To understand the problem approach it as a student.

The student mindset puts my brain in a learning setting. It allows me to…

  • dissect issues rationally,
  • collaborate with clients effectively,
  • craft a ‘proper + practical’ solution.

The best part is, it takes away all the self-induced burden to ‘know it all'

The happy truth is most people are figuring out solutions as they are grappling with the issues (yes, even your boss and your parents and your mentor and your inspiration and the experts too). No one knows it all.

So take a deep breath and believe that everyone is a student, just like you. Have no pretence. Life is much simpler this way.

A student’s mindset helps me to stay humble, open to opinions, willing to learn, always improving, collaborating a lot, excelling in team work, and surrounded by positive energy all the time.

And if this helps - nobody wants to deal with a ‘know it all’. Isn’t it?

In driving school, they first give you a learner’s license before giving you a permanent license. Well, in life, it pays to remember, we will always be having the ‘learner’s license’.?There is NO permanent license.

With love, prayers, and exceptional wishes,

naren

Very apt way of looking at the problem.. we very much pretend that we know everything even before understanding the real problem!!
