At What Number Do You Ignore Your Probability For A Heart Attack or A Stroke? At 5%, 10%, or 20%?

I want to share a story with you with the intention to inspire you to think differently about your life. I believe your health matters to you and you value being healthy. Just like my friend did below.
After years of no show, last month my friend scheduled his annual medical visit.
Why? Because we had a call in Dec and I shared I'd booked my family's annual medical visits in Jan. Then, we started talking about aging and health. This friendly conversation inspired him to book his, too.
And then the expected turned into surprising.
He expected his numbers to be the same old 'good numbers' from when he last had his annual visit 10 years ago. "My blood pressure has always been low," he told me.
But he was surprised when he actually had his numbers checked.
Why? Your mind is projecting your current health out into the future as a static and fixed existence.
"I am healthy now, so I will be healthy next year, too."
"I was healthy last year (and the years before), so I must still be healthy now. No major events have happened in my life."
But our "good" health is like brushing teeth.
If you don't brush for 2 minutes each morning and night, over time your teeth will fail you without any major change in your life.
So, my friend's numbers didn't just surprise him, but also scared him at first.
They were signs of future heart attacks and strokes.
At what number do you just weave off, as not a big deal, the probability for a heart attack and stroke? At 5%? 10%? 20%?
He realized this was his sign to live differently.
The year before he had lost many of his friends and friends of friends to sudden deaths.
With a young child and a beautiful wife he decided he wanted to be there for his family - many years from now, too.
He is taking actions today to ensure his future will be intentionally healthy.
"You can be diagnosed today with something and live for a long time. Or you can be diagnosed and die a few months later. The difference is how soon you find out when your numbers are getting off the track. Regular annual medical visits can buy you time and give you the opportunity to have a preventive plan. It will raise the quality of your life."
He also inspired me to create something I've never heard before within the coaching industry yet.
