What Needs to Change?

What Needs to Change?

If you have taken my Time and Life Mastery programme, you will understand why developing a long-term vision for your life will support your day-to-day activities.

How do you want to live in your later years when the pressures of life recede a little (they never really go away) and you get to live life on your terms?

Do you want:

  • To travel whenever you want?
  • Have the strength to play with your grandkids?
  • Do the things you enjoy doing?
  • Live in your dream home?
  • Never to have to worry about money?

No matter where you are today, having a vision enables you to develop the necessary habits to make it happen.

For instance, I’ve always wanted to run a marathon at 80. When I was around 14, I met an 82-year-old gentleman at the running club who ran a marathon yearly and never missed a training session.

I was inspired; I told myself that when I am eighty, that is what I will do. Run a marathon a year until the day I die.

How would I be able to make that happen if I destroyed my health through lousy lifestyle habits such as smoking, drinking, sitting all day and eating an unhealthy diet in my younger years?

I remember seeing Prince Philip, Queen Elizabeth’s husband, when he was 97. He was walking with such grace. His back was straight, his head held high, and there were no signs of age-related frailty. You wouldn’t have known he was 97 watching him walk.

After he passed away (aged 99), it was revealed that he did the 5BX exercise programme every morning right up until the day he passed away.

The 5BX exercise programme is eleven minutes long and covers every major muscle group. That was his “secret” to a long and healthy life.

While I was a bit of a rebel in my twenties, I turned my life around. I now exercise regularly and eat a healthy diet. If I don’t take care of my health today, my goal of running marathons in my eighties will never happen.

Perhaps you want to live a financially independent life when you retire—where money is not a concern. What do you have to do today to make that happen?

The tiny steps you take today will lead you toward these higher-purpose goals. For health, what can you change about your lifestyle today that will give you the strength you want in later life? What can you do financially to provide the financial independence you desire?

The worst thing you can do is leave it to chance. Acting today will help you secure the life you want to live.

What habits do you have to change? What can you do to learn new skills that will assist in making your vision a reality?

This journey of discovery, self-improvement and trying new things makes life exciting, fun and fulfilling.

So, what changes can you make to your daily and weekly activities to give you the future you want?
