What is Natural Gas?
Salam & Good day to all!
My name is Syafiq Bakri and I am focusing on Corporate Real Estate Services such as Commercial Space, Corporate Office, Retails & Shops, Factory Warehouse, and Industrial Land.
Dealings with many manufacturing companies currently, it made me realize that my experience of 8 years in Manufacturing Industry back then really helps me in understanding client’s requirement more.
Recently, I am assisting one of my clients, a big manufacturing company who is looking for factory/industrial land, and one of the requirements is that it must have a Natural Gas pipeline access to the factory.
Do you know what is Natural Gas? And what does it mean when the client said that they require Natural Gas pipeline access? Let me share with you!
What is Natural Gas?
Natural Gas is an odourless, colourless, gaseous hydrocarbon mixture made up of methane (CH4) and a small percentage of other light hydrocarbons. Normally, Natural Gas is found underground and it is the cleanest burning fossil fuel. After processing, the gas is compressed and distributed through pipelines.
Advantages of Natural Gas?
- Cost Savings
- Fuel Efficiency
- No Storage
- Higher Product Quality
- Safer
- Cleaner
- Lower Maintenance Cost
Supply Concept?
“ Our natural gas supply is sourced from PETRONAS via Petronas Gas Berhad’s Peninsular Gas Utilisation pipeline. The natural gas is supplied to us through the City Gate Stations. Each City Gate Station, which injects odorant into the gas to odorise it, as part of the safety requirements. From here natural gas is distributed throughout our Natural Gas Distribution System (NGDS) via feeder lines and distribution lines located throughout Peninsular Malaysia. Depending on the volume and pressure of natural gas required, the pressure in these pipelines is reduced at district stations, service stations, area stations, or regulating stations. Once the gas pressure has been reduced to the appropriate level, it is delivered to the customer’s internal piping system. ” – Gas Malaysia

How to Identify Natural Gas Pipeline?
You may find Gas Malaysia's markings in the form of above-ground warning fixtures such as stone markers and signboards to notify on the presence of pipelines running underground.
Thanks for reading and clapping! (to let me know you enjoyed it!)
