What is my gate worth?.....

What is my gate worth?.....

A great question all owners should ask themselves. Especially when repairs or modifications are needed and the installation is getting on a bit. But what is meant by 'getting on a bit'?

Someone asked me, "how much are #Automatic-gates" well to be totally honest with you, 1000's of people ask this question every year. Imagine; there are almost as many #Electric-gate installation designs, as there are stars in the sky. If you were to consider every option, of every component that is required to fully complete an in-tier #Powered-gate system and all of it's associated parts. Multiply this with every conceivable adjustment or setting, colour, finish, size, shape and dozens more, necessary features and the milkyway is a fare comparison of options.

The type of gate and how it opens, the control system and how it works, all add to this imesurable total.

The value of any gate is unique to its design, the suitability and quality of products used, the skills deployed in its in-tier construction, the level of wear & tear upon it and most af all, its worthiness to its owner.

The avalibility of suitable replacement parts and the financial consiquence of product support, against the remaining estimated life expectancy are always open for debate.

How much of the original installation is worthy of further financial support, and for how long? How reliable and safe is it? Is its performance aceptable or would an alternative be a better overall investment?

15-20 years is an above industry life expectancy, but it is the minimum target we aim for when designing #automated-gate systems. This is easily achieveable with some designs, catering for some styles and using the right materials, but not always. In fact the real industry average is assumed far less than ours. All evidence points to substancially less and with some product mixes, especially in poor enviromental matches, this critical aspect falls dramatically low.

For installations to last and give the very best return on investment, as well as deliver the highest levels of service and reliability, they have to be engineered to last and be designed to suit the actual location and environmental demands placed upon it.

Since 1988 reliable design can be found with even some #multi-user-installations still performing well, keeping owners safer and more secure.

Tips to help identify: What is my system worth?

#Cables, are they all suitable, in good condition and externally rated?

#Phyisical element, are the gates, support structuers and all furniture in good state?

#Operator & controls, are the motors and all control equipment in sound order?

#Enclosuers & assesories, are all the miscellaneous items in good order?

#Associated items & equipment, are all the complimentary items & devices in suitable order?

#Suitability, is the installation still suitably adequate, to meet the needs of the owner and users, in a reliably safe way?
