What Is My Fate?

What Is My Fate?

What is my fate?

I often drive by a place that seems familiar. I experience what can best be described as a Deja Vu feeling. A feeling that I have been there before. Be it a job, vacation, or people that I meet. Can there be such a thing? Did I have a previous life? Am I re-living these past events and reconnecting with past events again? These questions deserve deep thinking as well as a higher belief than science because, without belief in a higher power, everything has to be attributed to chance.

We Muslims believe that God breathed life into us and we came into existence out of nothing. We have no memory of a previous life. We did not choose life, it chose us. Our birthplace, birth date, parents, intellect, language, sustenance, and life mission were all planned. We had no choice. God gave us life because He is God. He willed that I and you live and enjoy each other's company. Out of His mercy, He decided that I and you can enjoy His bounties and earn eternal life by obeying His commands. He created us with a purpose and for a purpose. Every day that we see light, I and you have an opportunity to live our purpose.

If we use our intellect, it is evident that we never existed before. We cannot be reborn infinitely. It had to start somewhere. And because we reproduce as human species, the first creation could have not had a previous life. Therefore, even by our logic, it makes sense that we had no previous life. This life is our first life and we must treat it as such. We must live it to the fullest. This life is our opportunity for our future life in the hereafter, where we will live in eternity.
