What my co-worker said to me

Thursday, 7:52am

July 18th, 2024

Mom is cooking eggs in the kitchen.

Baby bro is watching cartoons on TV.

It's cloudy — 76 degrees here in New York.

Let's talk about what my co-worker said to me.

------------------------------

Have you ever had someone give you advice?

This happened last Friday.

There was a phone call from a guest.

Working at a call center, you answer the phone.

Ended up being 1 second slower.

Another co-worker got the call.

What my co-worker said to me was this:

"You have to be faster."

He was right.

I felt horrible.

You can't learn sitting around waiting for a chance.

You grab it even when you don't feel confident.

The only way to learn is to take a chance.

"You have to be faster."

You can apply this to many things in your life:

  • Your goals
  • Picking up the phone
  • Responding to emails / messages

Speed plays a role when it comes to what you value.

Focus on one thing you like to get done.

"You have to be faster."

P.S. What was the best advice someone said to you at work?

Depends on what your job desk is. I agree with your boss on this case, but some projects or jobs could use a bit of slow

With proficiency comes speed. When we focus on getting better at something we enjoy and just that one thing we can get good pretty quickly. Excellent advice. When something becomes a habit or second nature, we can respond without even thinking. Great share, Craig Davis!
