What Is Multi-Adventure Travel?
Have you seen the autumn leaves changing in New England? Have you gone wine tasting in California’s Napa or Sonoma Valleys? Are you a fan of the lavender fields of Provence? How about the epic beauty of Patagonia?
Have you ever noticed that when you ride a bicycle in a place with which you’re already familiar, things look different? Or maybe you take a walk through a town that you ordinarily drive through and you may wonder “Why haven’t I seen that before? Has that always been there?” You’re bound to notice different aspects of the town that you hadn’t noticed from the car. The fact is when you travel differently in a destination where you’ve been before, you notice different things and it creates different feelings than the previous time you were there.
Multi-adventure trips may include cycling, hiking, walking, kayaking, ziplining, and other soft adventure activities. You can just do a cycling trip, which is just that. But a multi-adventure trip would be a combination of two or more types of activities.
More than ever before, travelers are looking for new ways to see the world. And enjoying sites unseen or perhaps sites previously seen in new ways is refreshing. Sure, you may have visited Spain 10 years ago, but I guarantee Spain has changed in 10 years. Why not go back and revisit, experiencing it by bicycle and trekking this time? Multi-adventure travel will show you the world through a new lens. There’s more than one way to skin a cat as they say…
A frequent question I hear from clients is, “I’ve already been to blah blah blah. What is there to do that’s new or different than before?” Leave that to me. I love nothing more than orchestrating bespoke, unique, exclusive experiences. I’m constantly scouting out the ‘new and unique’ around the globe. That’s what I do!
Here’s an example of what a couple of multi-adventure days might look like in Patagonia…
Day 1
After a sumptuous breakfast, take a trek into a secluded area of Patagonia to a pristine lake where there are kayaks waiting for you to glide through the tranquil waters. After disembarking from your kayaks, there’s a gourmet lunch waiting for you in a beautiful setting along the lake. But wait! Are those horses? Why yes they are! Ride through more amazing scenery on horseback with your 'oh so knowledgeable' guide regaling you with stories and tidbits of wisdom about the area. Back at the lodge, it’s time to relax. Soak in the jacuzzi while gazing out at the spectacular scenery. Then enjoy a delectable dinner before collapsing into your bed and what’s sure to be a deep, restful sleep. That’s what I call a great day!
Day 2
Wake up early to see the sunrise from a hot air balloon while you sip on hot chocolate or a steaming cup o’ joe. Once you’re back on the ground, you might cycle through the Patagonian countryside to your gourmet breakfast beautifully laid out in a picturesque tableau. Follow this with a guided nature walk where you can learn about the flora and fauna surrounding you. Then back to your lodge for lunch and whatever you feel like doing the rest of the day. Another activity? A massage? A nap? Up to you!
This is just an example of what multi-adventure trips look like. There are a myriad of options. The demand to actively engage with the world is being requested more than ever. Post pandemic, folks are looking for slower travel and to enjoy open, outdoor spaces. Multi-adventure is a fantastic option. Give it a try!
