What Movie Inspires You Most?

The word inspiration gets thrown around a lot in business. But what does it really mean to an entrepreneur?
If we ask anyone what their favorite movie is, nine times out of ten it’ll be one they felt inspired by. Most of the time, inspiration involves some sort of creative process – like when we explore an original business idea, or take an innovative approach to solving a problem. But any time something - or someone - stimulates us to take a certain action or feel a certain way, we’ve been inspired!
Movies like The Pursuit of Happyness, Rocky - even The Greatest Showman! - tell us stories about people who’ve fought their way past adversity to succeed. It seems like all the best stories have a turning point of some kind: things start off pretty well, then a rocky road follows or a major setback happens. But have we noticed that they also include a way to persevere and overcome?
The reason we relate to these stories is because nobody goes through life without setbacks, nobody goes through life undefeated - and nobody builds a life all alone!
Being an entrepreneur isn’t always easy, but the times that set us back are often the same ones that help us to grow. The key thing to remember is that we can’t do it by ourselves. We need someone by our side to help us through the tough times – whether it’s family, friends, or a like-minded business partner.
Always by Your Side
Entrepreneurs can never be extremely successful by themselves! We believe that the harder you work, the luckier we get! And we really can’t get much luckier as an entrepreneur than when we find people who understand and share our vision.
In some ways, being an entrepreneur is as much about giving back to the community as it is about the business you’re running. There aren’t too many ventures out there that don’t affect somebody’s life at some level, and that can be a great feeling.
The best ideas, the most creative solutions tend to be inspired by the company we keep and the stories we hear. And the best thing about the HaneyBiz Project is that we get to hear stories from business leaders who are all making a difference in some way. We love how that gives us all something to aspire to – and how it helps us think, hey, maybe I could do something like that too.
The most stimulating people are usually the ones who have a similar mindset to ours, but who might also be smarter, faster, stronger, and more capable than us. They’re people we can learn from, who motivate us to be better. And they’re people we feel as comfortable with as family.
There’s a reason why we chose the catchphrase “never above you, never below you, always by your side” to end our radio show each week, and it’s because nobody does anything lasting by themselves. The things that do last – the ones that make us happy in life – are always a product of who’s with us along the way.
