What Motivates People to Wake Up Very Early in the Morning ?

Whenever I am requested to wake up at the crack of dawn to catch up an early flight for a business trip, I struggle with the effort to get out of bed. Though it is for my work, that I enjoy, and I am being paid for.

And here I am for a fourth consecutive week rising and shining at all hours of the night in Belgium to watch my compatriot Simona Halep play tennis, and win each match, at Indian Wells and Miami Open.

At 1am, 3am and sometimes even 5am. It doesn't matter ! I am up, full of energy and excitement and the more I see her fighting for each point, the more enthusiastic I become to follow her next match. She inspires me with her determined attitude, outstanding consistency and focus.

But what have I learned in these past weeks from my short nights? Not only that Romania has a superb tennis player, but that as humans, we are able to ignite natural power, ferocity and joy in things we love doing, no matter the time of day or night and the circumstances.

And how am I going to transpose this understanding into my work environment now? That's something to reflect on once I have recovered from sleep deprivation and have supported Simona against Serena tonight once again.
