What is most important to your organization — mission, vision or values?

Consider business success to be a journey. To keep the business on the right track (mission) and to reach the desired goal (vision), leaders need to ensure they have installed rumble strips and navigation signs (values) along the road. Without these measures, daily decision-making and even normal employee behaviour can easily cause parts of the business to wander off the road or can lead to a catastrophe like the entire organization suddenly finds itself in a deep ditch that costs money, time, and precious resources to fix and get back on track.

This leads us to conclude that an organization’s vision, mission and values are always intertwined and work in unison.

Vision is the fuel that drives the company

It is the end goal or the destination. For instance, the vision statement of Ikea is - “To create a better everyday life for many people.” This vision goes beyond home furnishing. The organisation wants to have a positive impact on the world – from the communities where they source raw materials to the way their products help customers live a more sustainable life at home.

The vision statement of Blue Ocean is - “To be a global distribution company that provides quality products and services to improve the lives of the end consumer.”

The mission statement is the is the action?plan

A mission statement is a concise explanation of the organization's reason for existence. It describes the organization's purpose and overall intention. The mission statement supports the vision and serves to communicate purpose and direction to employees, customers, vendors and other stakeholders.

Our mission is - “To provide quality, value-added products & services in the field of Telecommunications, Home & Kitchen Appliances, Electronics and FMCG”

Values?are the principles that guide your organization and culture

If you want to reach your vision - you must have company values. Values stem from the core beliefs that the founder(s) have. These could be transparency, trust, equality or more. These become a source of inspiration for the organization and determine how the course of all interactions among stakeholders. Only when and when these interactions are guided by strong values does the organization reach the common goal – the vision.


A company’s success depends on its vision and mission statements. They have certain core elements that drive an organization to the height it aims at reaching. Creating correct statements for your business that suits your industry should be on top priority.?Before drafting the vision and mission statements, you should be completely aware of the purpose of your organization. An organization’s purpose is solely based on its core values and the philosophy that dictates it. Thus, we can conclude that vision, mission and values always go hand in hand and drive the organization and its stakeholders to success.
