What most business coaches and leaders are not addressing right now

What most business coaches and leaders are not addressing right now—including big guru coaching companies.


There’s a lot of uncertainty ahead of us. The global economy is unstable. More and more people, including your clients, are starting to panic—secretly, openly or otherwise.


It can feel tempting to resist this fact and not want to look at it. The spiritually fed, abundance thinker in you will likely not want to go there. And if you do that you’re doing a huge disservice to your clients, and someone else could be better poised to support them in this time.


The absolute truth is this: NOW is the time to make your own money. And to know how to make your own money. Not next month or next year. I’ll highlight the two targeted ways to do this below.


Because you need to have the confidence and tools so that you can prepare your business in a way that many coaches won’t.


The most effective way to do this is by focusing on your clients.


Back at the start of the pandemic in the beginning of 2020, there were two camps of coaches/entrepreneurs:

  1. The first took a back seat to wait for it all to “blow over.” You can guess what that did for their business.
  2. The other group, a far smaller segment of people, asked themselves, how can I create even more value for people in this time?

Asking myself the latter question in May 2020 is what allowed me to serve more people than ever before and earn more than ever before.

I started writing daily. I connected with 6-12 people per week. I did more than 100 free business audits for people in that time, no strings attached. I did pro-bono coaching every single week. I offered coaching scholarships. I provided more access and support to private clients. And I figured out how to do these things in a way that was energy-giving, not energy-draining. Our revenue increased by 4 times that year.

What are the biggest challenges your clients are facing right now? What might they be facing 30, 60, or 90 days from now? What are the concerns, fears or worries they’re having? We all have 80,000 thoughts a day—what are they thinking? What are they focusing on? Our focus creates our reality.


With this in mind…how can you show up for them in new or innovative ways that feel really wonderful and simple for you?


Now is the time to double down, to show up for your people and create as much value as possible for them.


And of course, before you can take care of your clients, you need to be able to take care of you.


Step 1 of solidifying your business in these times is taking care of you.


Invest, invest, invest in your business. Invest in your mindset. Invest in the ability to know how to always be growing your community and creating value and inevitably, sales. Invest in your mental and emotional well being daily. Eat, move, play and rest well.


Step 2 is taking care of your clients.


Do you check in with past clients and offer your support? Do you create a group and invite people to it who need extra help? Do you connect people with the people and resources they need? Do you create a lower cost offering? Do you simply check in with people to see how they are doing?


Show up for them in a way that your competitors never could or would, because they’re unwilling to accept that things are shifting and the landscape is changing.


One of the best things I’ve heard is this:


The only way to ever get ahead of uncertainty is to breathe deeply, feel everything you’re feeling – and then to step into leadership. Even if you don’t feel ready. Actually – especially if you don’t feel ready…


Keep on going. Your dream is too big—for you, for your family, for your community—to take your foot off the gas right now.
