What is Moof?

For the uninitiated Moof is the sound that Clarus the dog cow made. Who is Clarus? It was the little print icon that appeared in the old Apple Macintosh print dialogs pre-system 8. It was a little inside programmers joke, one that I would have never known about, but I happened to get Tech note 31, an April Fools tech note that detailed the life and habits of dog cows.

It made me smile every time I printed something. It represented a little expression of humor by the developers to the people who know where to look for it.

Those smiles continue today, just ask Siri to divide 0/0. The little inside jokes that the developers create for the observant users lives on. Those little inside joke reminds us that technology is created by humans, humans with a sense of humor.
