What Are Mood Disorders?

Mood disorders are not the same as changes in mood.

Treatment for mood swings depends on what is causing them.

If they are transient (lasting a short time)—for example, caused by a period of extreme stress—they will likely pass once the stress subsides.

Mood changes that are fast, with abrupt swings in your mood or emotional state, may be a normal response to stress or hormonal shifts.

While mood can change in response to your environment and everyday stresses, mood disorders are those that affect your general, pervasive emotional state in a way that is beyond your control.

By definition, mood disorders affect your quality of life and well-being, causing harm to your relationships, work and family life, and self-esteem.

Mood disorders fall under several groups of conditions, the two most common of which are depressive and bipolar.

You lack impulse control.

Hormonal shifts can lead to significant changes in mood. Females tend to be more prone to symptoms of hormonal changes than males, particularly during menstruation, pregnancy, and menopause.

Common causes of mood swings in females include:

Premenstrual syndrome (PMS)

PMS causes many symptoms just before the onset of a menstrual period. These include:

Mood swings

Depression

Many people dominate conversations simply because they lack the ability to control their urge to talk.

Speech is a part of how our?brains are programmed to socially connect and survive.

But some people may talk excessively. Excessive talking is the act of over talking or compulsively talking.

Someone who talks too much may have a mental health disorder, such as?bipolar, disorder or it could simply be a behavioral or personality trait.

Whenever a conversational partner makes a point, you jump right back in with your own thoughts.

You do this without thinking and regardless of whether they had finished their point.

A thought simply enters your mind and before you’ve had a chance to question whether it needs to be said straight away, at least, you’ve gone ahead and said it.

It’s a boost to your ego.

It feels good to be listened to.

By hearing your voice and sharing your thoughts, you receive some form of gratification.

In those moments when you are doing the talking, you receive the attention of others and this gives your ego a little boost.

And because it feels good, you do more and more of it.

So you’ve met someone new who gives you butterflies in your stomach?

It’s an exciting feeling, and it can also be confusing.

Are you just infatuated and?turned on or are you really interested romantically?

Love endures longer than sexual attraction

Whether it comes on strong or unfolds gradually to a point of realization, acknowledging love as?love?isn't always easy. How do you know if what you're experiencing is actually love?

Love and sexual attraction are easy to confuse but have different goals

Both love and?sexual attraction can both be strong emotions and we can experience sexual attraction to people .

The key difference is in their?goals . Whereas sexual attraction's end goal is sex, love is oriented towards maintaining a relationship, to keeping a strong connection defined by closeness and shared lives.

When we talk about ourselves, our brains release dopamine, the pleasure hormone, so we're immediately rewarded when we do so.

Talking to show how much you know. This, ironically, tends to undermine rather than build credibility. It also has a negative impact on our likeability, one of the key factors in how we evaluate people.

To talk out of nervousness or insecurity. Our ability to self-manage shrinks when our anxiety grows.

And we do this despite the evidence that?facts alone rarely persuade.

We talk because you had prepared something to say,?even if it's no longer necessary or relevant.

Your Comments …..

Talking to stop someone else from talking. Remind you of any staff meetings--or family holidays?

Love talking out of habit. For many of us, speaking can feel like an automatic reflex rather than a thoughtful approach to sharing information.

While some of us organize our ideas before sharing to them, many of us use talking as a way to clarify and sound out our ideas, working out our mental processes aloud.

Talking because it's your "turn".?Whether it's at a meeting or in a conversation, we think of our turn as a directive or mandate to say?something, rather than an opportunity that we can take, or pass on, or defer until we actually have something more meaningful to contribute.

Love to fill the silence. Yes,?it is associated with?the development of new cells in the hippocampus, the key brain region associated with learning and memory. Still,?most people experience silence as something to avoid--especially in conversation.?

Why I am not attracted to anyone? If you’re grappling with this question too, don’t worry – you’re not alone. It’s a quandary that can be influenced by an array of factors, whether they are psychological, emotional or physical. Perhaps you’ve been going on date after date and yet no one seems to light that spark for you. Or maybe it’s the opposite scenario; everyone around you is pairing up and falling in love while you remain indifferent. It can be quite disconcerting when it feels like your attraction switch is stuck at ‘off’. Attraction isn’t a choice, but rather a complex interplay of various elements. Let me delve into these aspects further so you may better understand why you sometimes find ourselves seemingly immune to attraction.
