What a Modern Warfare Will Supposedly Look Like
On a hypothetical level, the future of combat should be covert in nature. Considering that data processing is a huge part of the engagement, the system of conflict will likely lean more on weaponizing technology and electronic components.
Wired encounters
While troop engagement remains a necessity to clear conquered areas, the participation of military personnel in the field needs to be limited if only to lessen human casualties. More than that, a large chunk of the force will be in the background where monitoring and maneuvering are the primary functions.
Within this context, we are looking at a sophisticated battlefield that is wired from end to end. But what does that even mean? It means that all battle participants are connected in some way.
The future warfare will possibly be won by who controls the systems infrastructure and the electromagnetic spectrum. We are looking at encounters where a great deal of information and signal transmissions are involved.
With a wandering and infinite space out there open to everyone, the main concept of a forthcoming war is to establish a presence along those lines and interfere with the enemy’s communication networks. How sophisticated machineries and equipment fare will probably spell the tides of the conflict.
Cyber at the controls

The contemporary battle will be cyber-based. Information is a crucial aspect in gaining an edge to impose destruction on the systems capability of an adversary. This is not merely about technical expertise. It is about superiority in technological tools.
We are seeing efficient software and enduring hardware. We are viewing multi-functional electronic components with a miniscule dimension that are able to handle a seemingly endless storage capacity. We are watching systems that are able to gain a foothold in cyber space.
Computers are now on top of the situation. Algorithms handle the processes. Cyber platforms will topple infrastructure to make way for ground troops to clear target locations. Battle tanks, artilleries, fighter jets, naval ships and other military assets will take a backseat to armed unmanned surface and aerial vehicle units.
Perhaps the only thing that we can see in places of conflict are computer-guided missiles and other related forms of military assets or ammunitions crisscrossing and flying all over the area to hit targets. War machines will likely act independently with its full dependence on artificial intelligence and deeper machine learning tools.
Still up to man
Amid all these sophistication and speculations, however, remain the conventional way of fighting wars. Technology may dictate the future of weaponry but it is up to the human mind how conflicts are settled, and how battles are won if only to manage the chaotic repercussions of machine-driven military campaigns.
