What is the MINDSET of an Influencer?

Hey there, my name is Heather Havenwood. Welcome to the Influencer Badass Daily. So what am I gonna talk to you about today? Aren't you excited? Because you are an influencer badass. What I'm gonna talk to you about today is, what is an influencer? I get that question all the time from people. Heather, I'm an expert. Am I an influencer? I'm an author; am I an influencer? I'm an entrepreneur, CEO of a company; am I an influencer? I'm just a mom; am I an influencer? The answer is yes, yes, yes, yes, yes. But here's the mindset of an influencer that is completely different than what you're thinking. Are you ready? Here is the deal. An expert, believe it or not, some people say you read 10 books in one subject, you're technically an expert. I don't know if that's really true. I've read 10 books on how to make eggs and I really suck at it. Anyway, the point is is that if you read 10 books on one subject, you're technically an expert, and you technically are allowed to go out in the world and talk about it. Okay, but are you influencing people? If you've never heard of Robert Greene, I highly suggest his books. One is about seduction, another one's about war, another one's about power, and all of them have one thing in common; all of his case studies that he talks about through this whole ... All his books are really, really intense. What he talks about is case studies that happen in the 1800s and the 1900s and not even the 21st century. The reason why he does that, he wants us to remember this; H to H, human to human. Human beings haven't changed that much. We as humans desire to be influenced and persuaded and seduced. We do, promise ya. Here's the thing I would say. My question I have for you; do you, are you influencing people in your lives? Are you influencing your child to eat their green beans? Are you influencing your husband to maybe bring you flowers tonight? Are you influencing people in your lives to potentially buy this product? Are you influencing your employees to do a better job? Motivating, influencing, then the answer is yes, you are an influencer. Influence is really kind of more of an art and a science to understand that we as human beings desire to, what I call, be mentored. Remember when you were a kid, you had someone in your life, could've been a big brother, big sister, or maybe your friend's big brother and big sister? I totally had a crush on this guy named Garrett my entire life growing up and he still doesn't know it. I had a crush on him, but I looked at him as kind of a mentor. He was just this cool guy that I always wanted to hang around, and I just looked up to him. Anything he said he did, I was into it. He loved the drums, so I like the drums. Do I really like the drums? Here's my point; my point is we all desire to be influenced on some level. We all have someone in our lives when we were growing up. You're like, I remember that person. They influenced me so much. They probably didn't even know they were influencing you. Influence today is a really critical piece of business. We have to understand that just because you're an expert, just because you're an author, just because you're CEO of a major company, you have to realize that you're influencing your employees, your customers, and everyone around you, your business partners, your investors, all the time. You have to watch everything you're saying and doing, and make sure you ask the question; is this something you wanna put out there, a place that you're influencing the world? That's why a lot of times, people say my Facebook page is for personal and my LinkedIn's for business and I keep them total separate. I can understand your brain, you want that. But in the Internet world, we're all being influenced and we're all influencing of who we are and what we want. As a business owner, as an expert, as an author, as an influencer, you have to really remember being an influencer is understanding that anything you say, anything you do, anything that you market or don't market is a direct correlation to you. Remember my case study about the total crush guy I had that had the drums? I actually really like the drums now. I really do. I love watching Def Leppard and I watch the drum guy. I'm always in love with the drum guy. He completely influenced me. What you put out there will really have an effect on people, but influence today is so critical in understanding how marketability works. I highly suggest that you read every book by Robert Greene. He's amazing. I hope you really enjoyed this. This is super, super short. My name is Heather Havenwood. Feel free to like or comment. Maybe you like me. Maybe you're completely influenced by me. Maybe you're repulsed by me. That's okay, it doesn't matter. Go ahead and like and comment below either way. All right, Heather Havenwood. Check me out, bye.
