What are Meta Tags?
Meta tags are pieces of text that represent a page’s content. the meta tags don’t appear on the page itself, but only in the page’s authorization code. Meta tags are really little content descriptors that improve tell search engines what a web page is concerning.
The only disagreement between tags you can view and tags you can’t view is the location. Meta tags only live in HTML, usually at the “head” of the page, and so are only noticeable to search engines. The “meta” reaches for “metadata,” which is the description of data these tags provide – data on the data about your page.
Importance of Meta Tags:
There are four major types of meta tags worth understanding about and we’ll discuss them all here. Some are not as valuable as they once were. Others are deserving of using daily, and will very likely improve your traffic by letting Google understand who you are and what you provide.
The four types we’ll present here :
- Meta Keywords Attribute: A series of keywords you consider relevant to the page in question.
- Title Tag: This is the text you’ll view at the top of your browser. Search engines observe this text as the “title” of your page.
- Meta Description: A brief explanation of the page.
- Meta Robots: A suggestion to search engine crawlers as to what they should do with the page.
Title Tag For SEO:
Title tag, on the other hand, are the most valuable of all of the meta tags considered here. These tags have a real impression on search rankings and, maybe just as importantly, are the only one of the tags we’ll explain here that are apparent to the common user. You’ll discover them at the top of your browser.

What is a Meta Description?
The meta description is an HTML attribute that presents a review of a web page. Search engines such as Google regularly display the meta description in search results, which can affect click-through rates.
Code sample
<head> <meta name="description" content="This is an example of a meta description. This will often show up in search results."></head>
Meta Description Length:
Meta descriptions can be any length, but Google usually trims pieces to 155–160 characters. It’s best to maintain meta descriptions long rather than they’re enough detailed, so we suggest descriptions between 50–160 characters. Keep in mind that the “optimal” range will vary depending on the site, and your primary goal should be to present value and encourage clicks.
A page’s meta description should effectively employ the keywords that page is targeting, but also build compelling information that a searcher will need to click. It should be straight relevant to the page it represents, and unique from the information for other pages.
