You need a good workplace to call your home. You deserve to work in a place where by you can refer to the people and or staff as family. We would like to work in a place where Managers are approachable, the bosses are friendly and the Leaders are supportive. What else again could make a difference and good components of a good workplace?
All my Team members have worked tirelessly for the week. It is TGIF and we must look for somewhere to cool off. The stress for the week was just too much. Some of us don’t drink. By drinking you know what I mean. We all drink water but not all of us go close to Heineken and some other brands of Alcohol like Budweiser, Hero, Trophy stout and the rest.
This cool spot is an avenue to discuss everything that has been going on in the office. The informal talk is also known as Grapevine. Who has been promoted and why is that the management are planning to sack a certain set of people? And why are they not talking about our salary increases? Who is dating who and why do we have to do eye service to get promoted in the office?
It was fun spending time with my team members. Tonight, is the Semi Final Matches between Manchester City and Real Madrid. Please no one should on Laptop here. No one should talk about Excel, ERP or anything official. This is a time for fun. Remove your tie, hang your suit and wear your causal foot wear.
I read Winning by Jack Welch. He said we should work in a place where work is play. And we never forget to have fun. This line is correct. Club mood activated.
These Hennessey and McDowells would be too much for us guys. Well, if you guys insist that it’s cool. Then let’s get it on. Bar man, give us more Ice and Coke. With additional glass cups and fried Chicken. Anyone care for Suya? Aboki, Please give us more Suya with enough pepper sauce.
This Lounge is one of the best place to be in the City of Abuja. The DJ knows what we need tonight. Asake, Naira Marley, Davido, Wizkid and Burna Boy in the mix. The Strippers make this place so much entertaining.
I work in a Company in Nigeria whereby people love each other. The very first day I entered this company for an Interview. The first thing I saw was welcome to XYZ Company. We practice love here and we are good loving people. Love is our Language. During the second stage of the interview. I took request to use their rest room and I saw a Unit Called Love Department. I was like really!
The creed I saw on the ground floor close to the reception goes thus: “We hate office politics. We embrace love. No favoritism. No tribalism. No Hatred. Just love. Love is all that matters. I think Diana Rose and Brandy need to see these wallpaper and frame. Everything here is being done with fairness and equity… and in fact we like candor. Everyone can speak up to any matter. Matter arising. in the space. No one addresses the other person by their title, even the CEO should not be address as Mr. or Mrs. Call me by my name. Call me Mike Ikpoki, the MTN Guy MTN Michael Ikpoki
The atmosphere in this company is so good. People first before profit. Client first before marketing. Mental health first and always. It is a Win/Win situation. Employee grow the company grow.
I would really like to work with this company. I would work hard to secure this job.
Two days after I received a call from The HR Team that my interview was successful. My offer letter is ready. And I received it accordingly. I am so glad and I must share the good news with my friends and connections on LinkedIn.
The company paid well. Most of the staff are happy workers. Some said they have been working for like 5 years or more. They have a pay date. They do not delay salary. They all work like one family. The employee turn over rate is not bad. They give recognition for hard work. They have respect for employee personal life and their family. They have zero tolerance for cheating. They Gossip less. They play. They work. They hang out. They go on leave when due. The working condition is so good. The AC and lightening. The body languages of everyone are exceptional. No one insult the other person. One good thing that I must commend is they greet each other by saying "Good morning" not "How far" not "humm humm" not When you saying good morning, the response turn to be "well-done" or face frowning or snubbing.

I heard one senior manager saying; "Oh Jane, you look good on that dress" Genuine complement.
In their Employee handbook during their on-boarding. It was stated that Sexual Harassment is something they don't take lightly. Follow by conflict of interest. Much education were done in this regard.
These really amazed me that we could have such company in Nigeria. It means many Top Fortune 500 Fortune 500 Companies must emulate us. We are growing. American companies has a lot to learn from us. Japanese Companies must come to our Business school. Nigeria is changing the world of work.
Every morning we had fellowship. We are all allowed to pray in our own faith. Even if you do not have faith. It is not compulsory to join. After all Pep Guadiola, one of the best manager in the world is irreligious. It is hard to differentiate a Cleaner from a Unit Manager. The CEO and the cleaners share talk on Sport and other life debating topics.
No one in this System get scared of the CEO or MD. Just like the Former Chairman of FCMB Group FCMB. Otunba Subomi Balogun would never have any cleaner get scared of him. Rather he would call you back. If he happens to meet you in the Elevator and you want to run away. He would ask you to stay. The Group Managing Director of Cedarcrest Hospitals Cedarcrest Hospital Felix Ogedegbe doesn’t inject fear in his Team. He would open the elevator door for you and even ask what floor you are going to so that he could press the floor number accordingly. ?
The Quality of our CEOs, MD and COO would really have corrective impact on the quality of workplace culture in Nigeria and Globally.
I cannot believe that Nigeria is becoming such a good country. Many people abroad are now coming back home to work with Companies in Nigeria. This means a lot to our GDP and HDI HDIs Index. No more losing our Human Capital to companies abroad. Expatriate keep off!
The changes we had were as a result of The Love Unit found in our Companies. The Human Resources Guys have stopped the idea of manipulating, The IT Team are now sincere. They have stopped working against our Outlook mail when we need it most. The TQM guys are now born again. They don’t work based on The Instruction of the Informal group. The Informal Group has done more harms than good in many offices in Nigeria. They went away with this simply because the country is full of corrupt practices at the National level down to company's level.
When it is time for Launch Hour, we all eat together. We greet each other with full handshake. We hug and embrace like brothers and sisters. And yet we still have Productivity. Things are going on well. Customers have respect for our brand.
Employment is based on merit in this company. No godfather ism or who you know fallacy.
I am dreaming a lot. I never knew that all these were just mere dreams. This is what it means when they say we should stop drinking excessively. My Teammate holding his own Cigarette just woke me up from my sleep. Then I remember I am still going to face that Toxic Workplace on Monday. Everyone burst into laugh as I woke up and I had to write my dream story on my blog and share to my colleague. But I wouldn't want my boss or politicians in my country to read this.
When would Nigeria company stop being Toxic? When would companies in Asia, Europe, Africa, and Caribbean stop being Toxic? A toxic workplace pushes some of us to find self in a smoking and alcohol environment. Sometimes due to frustration. We just must catch fun and forget the bad treatment from bad bosses. Some of us are on the street hustling because they push us out of the Corporate outfit due to their inferiority complex. I mean those Informal group feel insecure, feel threaten and they have very low self-esteem.
The hard way is the only way. We just have to JAPA out of this country. We need a better workplace. We need good treatment not just money. We need wellness and not just office AC. We are tech guys. And more importantly, we are Sales guys! Why should we be wasting our talent in a country that doesn't value talent?
Hey Guys, please let us go home.It is dark hours. Before men in Black Uniform change it for us. Please hold your ID card well. Hey you, come let’s go and rest and call it good night.
Tony bro! See you at that f**king work on Monday. lol...We all laugh!
