What is in it for me? What's the goal?

What is in it for me? What's the goal?

Everyone in this world expects something in return for his/her actions. The very impetous to perform certain activity is not just the going with the flow but to get the return gift from the nature or god. Some people do good work to get some mental happiness. Some do hard work to get some mental kick and self fulfillment. Some get indulged in bad activities to enjoy selfishly and harm others. The Sadistic pleasure is the expectation of the such bad actions. If we summarise, all these activities are part of the give and take relationship. It is the primary principle on which the whole world works. There are some exceptional people who do not work for mundane expectations. They go beyond the three modes of material nature(goodness, passion and ignorance) and aspire to get the ultimate pleasure or true happiness in the material and spiritual kingdoms. Let's understand the highest form of reward and the necessary action to be performed to achieve the goal.

In line with the concept of Sambhandh(our eternal relationship with the god), Abhidhey(Devotional service-process or a way to revive our eternal relationship with the god) and Prayojana(the fruit or the goal of performing devotional service) Gyan discussed in previous articles, the current articles discusses on third step of spirituality, Prayojana Gyan. It is nothing but the final goal or the fruit of doing devotional service to the supreme lord. Unless we understand this, we may not get the enough motivation to explore the true goal of spirituality.

The Supreme Lord Krishna is the reservoir of happiness. When we connect with him we get an opportunity to experience the Krishna Prem(love of godhead). Ultimately, as explained by revered spiritual leader of ISKCON(International Society for Krishna Consciousness) HH Radhanath Swami Maharaj, everyone in this world is living on the basic equation of life(To love and to be loved). The same applies here, once we serve the supreme lord and become an instrument in his hands we get the reward. The underlying success is the sweet and mature fruit of love. It is the highest experience filled with ever increasing, long lasting and eternal happiness which you can not find through material means. You need to delve into the spirituality or principles of Yoga(union with god) as per the authentic and revealed vedic scriptures.

The good reference or an authenric source to understand and confirm the Prayojana Gyan(Goal or fruit of spirituality) is Shrimad Bhagvad Gita which is a life manual spoken by Lord Krishna himself.

Bg. 10.9

????????? ??????????? ???????: ???????? ?

????????? ??? ?????? ????????? ? ?????? ? ?

The thoughts of My pure devotees dwell in Me, their lives are fully devoted to My service, and they derive great satisfaction and bliss from always enlightening one another and conversing about Me.

Bg. 4.11

?? ??? ??? ??????????? ????????? ????????? ?

?? ????????????????? ???????? ????? ?????? ?

As all surrender unto Me, I reward them accordingly. Everyone follows My path in all respects, O son of P?thā.

Lord Krishna always reciprocates as per our intensions and intensity of devotional service. By executing devotional service nicely, we become eligible to become a pure devotee and in turn we can find the eternal place in the heart of supreme Lord. He also gives a great satisfaction and bliss(much higher version of happiness which is different from mundane pleasure which is futile, short-lived and limited in nature) to his pure devotees. To the degree we surrender unto him and worship him with love, we get the spiritual bliss or spark in the same proportion. The more we do the devotional service, the more pleasure(highest level of happiness) we derive from it.

Both of the above verses explain the concept of Prayojana Gyan with clarity. Lord Krishna is the source of all knowledge and the original creator, maintainer and destroyer of all the spiritual and material worlds. Being a supreme lord, how can he not be an expert orator and speaker? He has in fact beautifully explained all the important concepts of life in the holy book, Shrimad Bhagvad Gita which means "Song of God". It was originally spoken in Sanskrit but for the benefit of the mankind Shrila Prabhupada(Founder Acharya of ISKCON) and his desciples translated it to English and other languagues so that everyone can get an opportunity to drink the nectar of God's words.

In nutshell, the whole process of highest level of spirituality is decoded with the concept of Sambhandha, Abhidhey and Prayojana Gyan.

1. We are eternal servant of Lord Shri Krishna (Sambhandha Gyan).

2. We need to act according to our constitutional position of being servant, serve the lord with the principles of devotional service (Abhidhey Gyan).

3. The ultimate aim or goal of life is achieved through practice of devotional service. That goal is the highest sublime pleasure(pure love of godhead) in god's own spiritual abode(Prayojana Gyan).

The key takeaway is to do mental churning of this concept and apply it in our life. In fact, this serves the purpose of the life which is "To know the purpose of life and achieve it". Do remember this throughout your life and you will never regret for this advice. Each word written in the Shrimad Bhagvad Gita is guranteed and cent percent true. There is no doubt in the promise emanated from the mouth of the supreme god. As we know, "Will will find the way", similarly if we give our heart to Krishna, he will never disappoint us. For sure.
