What Matters Most?

What Matters Most?

It has been a year where everything has been intensified.

This disruption has had a gift - the opportunity to really listen and get clear about what matters most. I believe that being clear and tenacious about what is most important is the foundation to living with alignment and joy.

My new beginning starts with a promise to myself.

I found this dear little one abandoned, starving, hypothermic. There was little to suggest that she would make the next hour, so I held her gently in the palm of my hand, hoping that her last moments would be ones of tenderness. 3 weeks later, she is my coach in what matters most.

It has taken countless hours to rehabilitate her weakened body and teach her how to walk again. In that time, as I patiently help her find her strength and her footing, I realize what matters most for me this year are the intimate acts of tenderness.

These vulnerable acts of love require such courage. To soften my action-driven words and hands into the most exquisite expression of gentleness and kindness requires bravery. First, I have to stand as the worthy recipient of my own tenderness. I notice I am more used to inspiring myself with an energetic drive instead of a gentle encouragement. Leaning into tenderness even further, I challenge myself to freely offer the gift of soft love to those around me with all the fears of rejection and judgment that come with it.

But I am committed. You see, this is one thing I can use to steer my actions this year. Neither pandemic nor politics can impede my pledge to live into this new quality. No matter what chaos may come in 2021, I can live according to what matters to me most.

I'll share more about my discoveries in this month's blog, but for now, I wonder...what about you?

Do you know what one thing matters most? What one action will you use to guide your vision, your heart, your fulfillment this year?

Join me this month in our coffee chats or field trips, and let's figure this out together. I'm honoured to journey with you.

If not now, when?
