What matters more quality of food or quantity?
What matters more quality of food or quantity? Should you eat more organic whole foods and not worry about amounts? Or should you eat what you like, including some sweets or "junk food," but take care to stay under your caloric limits?
What we know is low calorie diets are healthier and produce weight loss compared to higher calorie diets regardless of how healthy the food is. In other words, eating an extra 300 calories of broccoli when you are already 1,000 calories over your caloric needs is likely detrimental regardless of how healthy broccoli is. Eating a donut in the context of an otherwise low calorie, nutritious diet will cause little issue and may, for some, provide the little bit of satisfaction they need to keep them from overeating in the first place.
The thing about high quality nutritious whole foods like vegetables, fruits, & lean meats is that they often kill two birds with one stone. In other words, they effortlessly result in a low calorie diet for many..not all.
But for others this type of diet may not provide satisfaction or enjoyment & instead leads to eating the health foods plus large amounts of high calorie junk foods as well. Many of these types would prefer to eat foods they like and just eat less.
Both work. Quality or quantity approaches can each lead to healthy nutritious diets that are low calorie. The biggest obstacle many fall into is thinking black and white. Quantity & quality are equally important but one can, depending on the person, become relatively more important. In other words, personal preference matters and it matters a ton
You don't need to do paleo or vegan or raw or anything else some dude who just read a book or research study tells you. Choose the approach that satiates, satisfies and nourishes you.
You should be wary of black & white messages. Why? Because the truth is always in the gray zone. These messages create the same lopsided issues the entire health and fitness industry has been confusing people with for years.
For some it's quality that leads to less overall consumption. For others quantity achieves that result. #diet #food #calories #macros#paleo #nextlevelhuman #metabolicliving

5 年I think quality. We’ve all seen what quantity does in a negative way. I’ll eat less and slower if the food is worth slowing down for!!! ??
