What is Marketing Automation?

Simply put: Marketing Automation is using software to assist in the execution and automation of a marketing strategy.

It's a broad definition - but it has to be - because Marketing Automation can play a role in just about any aspect of your inbound marketing strategy.

Some examples of Marketing Automation include:

  • Sending a series of “getting started” emails to new users who have just signed up for your service.
  • Connecting your CRM and website to display personalized content to website visitors.
  • Serving LinkedIn ads to people who’ve previously visited your website to display an offer they may be interested in.

But please remember this:

Strategy comes first! — Then execution..

Even the best Marketing Automation tools will never replace the strategy that underpins the execution.

A great marketer should first seek to design a “human-centric” approach for communicating their messages to prospects and customers - putting THEIR (the customer) goals at the forefront of the strategy - and THEN seek ways to execute those strategies using Marketing Automation software.
