What is man that You are mindful of him?
pastor Pedro Montoya
Jesus is God manifested in the flesh for by faith in His Name and in obedience to His World, man can restore God's image
Searching in the Bible for an answer that would explain to me why even among the very men and women of faith there is so much anxiety and uncertainty about life’s situations that escape our understanding, the Lord led me to this psalm of David, when David compares Creation itself to the presence of man in its midst, highlighting above all how God has had in history -and has- a very special care about ALL mankind.
There is an enormous difference between a man of faith and a man of science, the difference is abysmal, because it is not that the one, the first, is religious, and the second is an atheist, it is a prejudiced difference; it is that one has placed his trust in God, especially in what God has spoken, while the other has decided to trust in statistical data. However, as time has advanced and science has increased its influence over all mankind, the difference between a man of faith and a man of science has narrowed substantially, finding cases of men of faith maintaining lifestyles based on scientific pragmatism.
These times of pandemics are a clear example, many people are sunk in a terrible depression because of the uncertainty that science gives to the situation in terms of the changes it will bring for the future, and even panic has upset entire regions, many cases living the situation with surprise as if the pandemics were out of God’s control; in synthesis, the life of faith has adopted more of a symbolic expression, useful only as an element to distinguish a religious confession.
Some attribute all these evils to the devil, as if he were stronger than God; while others are seeing the development of the scenes of seals, trumpets and cups presented in the apocalyptic vision. Everyone presents an idea about the matter, but very few understand that God is marking the beginning of a stage of Revelation prior to His coming,
whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began.
Acts 3:21
What should we think about what is happening? What should we understand according to God’s work on earth? A strong answer to these questions is presented by David in this psalm,
4 what is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him? 5 For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour. 6 Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands;
Psalm 8:4-6
What is man? David begins by asking about the ‘creation’ of man; David’s first intention is to see man as a material part of God’s Creation, the term used in the Hebrew text begins with, ???? (mah. pronoun), thus showing that in the question David presents man as ‘something’ more than Creation itself; otherwise David would have asked, who… (????), and not what… (????) is the man?
However, already in the answer that David himself gives for the Revelation that was conferred upon him, David emphasizes that man is not ONE creation, that is, man is not a material part of Creation; David presents man as an extension of God: You have made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands; You have put all things under his feet.
The verbs, have dominion (???????????), and put (????????), transmit not only the idea of a divine action in favor of man, but, and above all, they transmit the divine attribution transferred to him through the action of his formation.
This Revelation is confirmed through the words of the prophet Isaiah, when by comparison with a mother’s love for the child she has given birth to, the prophet claims the Sovereignty and Eternal love of God over man,
Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee.
Isaiah 49:15
Therefore, man is not subject to the uncertainty of things, as if they were happening to misfortune and introduce confusion into his environment; man has sufficient divine attribution to understand the Will of God and to be aware of what is happening around him.
If so, why so much anxiety and confusion? The distress and confusion that assails the understanding of man and woman is because they have not wanted to have God in their knowledge, the apostle Paul points out properly in his epistle,
And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
Romans 1:28
And that includes the men and women of faith. How can a man and woman of faith not want to have God in their knowledge?
The purpose of the Life of Faith is not to risk doing and/or achieving the difficult or impossible, the purpose of the Life of Faith is to establish on earth the instruction of the Word, hence the disciple of the Lord is not the one who agrees with the teaching of Jesus, much less the one who divulges it; disciple is he who establishes the teaching of Jesus, who follows it and establishes it in his life, and continues to trust, believing that He has put everything under our feet, to rule, to establish Truth, to be a light to the nations, to instruct in righteousness, to say to those who do not believe, fear not, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.
The issue of the Life of Faith is not what you do for the Lord that matters, or even worse how much you do for the work; the issue of the Life of Faith is that you do what He commanded you to do. It will not turn out that you will do things that He did not ask you to do.
This is not a time of uncertainty, it is a time for a prophetic generation of men and women of faith to be born, so that by their conviction, decision and action, they may give fulfillment to the Word established in the Creation of the first day: BE THE LIGHT,
The sun shall be no more thy light by day; neither for brightness shall the moon give light unto thee: but the Lord shall be unto thee an everlasting light, and thy God thy glory.
Isaiah 60:19
Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.
Ephesians 5:14
