What makes up a Complete Drone Curriculum?
Drones are without a doubt the future of science, technology, engineering, mathematics, art, and basically every business out there in one form or another. Children, the future of our society and the world, deserve to be introduced to this new language before they are starting businesses of their own or working in careers with drone technology. With that being said, how do parents and teachers determine the best drone equipment, software, and curriculum for teaching their students the entire scope of droning technology? STEAM Drones has thought of it all and has combined every aspect of the best drone coding education into one immersive package that includes the following:
Robust / Safe Drones: When teaching students this new language of drones and coding, it’s important that they have the best equipment at their fingertips. STEAM Drones relies on drones that are widely available for purchase, service and maintenance. Our drones provide students with the best possible drone experience. This means that students can focus on learning rather than trying to learn a new language while dealing with low quality equipment. Drones are equipped with a high-quality image processor, electronic image stabilization, intel processor, EZ Shot capabilities and 5MP Photos. In addition, all of the drones that we use are fully compatible with DroneBlocks programming curriculum.
Direct Partner of Droneblocks:
We have partnered directly with DroneBlocks, an instructor of STEM and the real-world application of drone technology through an application and online curriculum.. They provide a fun and innovative way to teach students programming concepts using drones. In addition, they have designed an application that allows students to easily learn the basics as well as in depth knowledge of all coding languages. The application can be utilized from students ranging from kindergarten all the way up into high school. With it’s easy drag and drop block programming options, younger students will quickly master techniques and skills of coding. The can then see their hard work brought to life with the top of the line drones.
Droneblocks and STEAM Drones have joined together to provide students with the ultimate hands-on learning experience. To be most effective, hands-on activities should mimic a real-world scenario as closely as possible. Activities that work best in a live classroom setting can include task simulations, role-playing, software training or problem-solving exercises. Drone coding and programming brings hands-on learning to the classroom in a fun and engaging way that ensures ultimate exposure and retention.
Extensive curriculum:
Our partnership with DroneBlocks allows us to focus on coding and exposure to a variety of different languages. Our detailed cloud-based curriculum can be applied with varying age ranges and is extremely conducive to students with diverse learning styles by helping them learn math, science & logic through fun and practical application. Our curriculum covers safety, regulations, and the real-world applications of drone technology. We include instructional videos that correspond with each lesson plan and lessons that are aligned with Common Core standards. With DroneBlocks curriculum, students will learn the basics of block style coding applying fundamentals of math, science, and logic. Students will then test their code on the small and indoor friendly drones. Once students master the basics of block style coding they will move on to more advanced Python programming language. Python is an open source platform that is used worldwide especially in the robotics industry. In addition, with our new JavaScript course, students will dive into the world of flow-based programming with Node-RED for drones. Node-RED is a powerful visual editor for developing custom software for IoT, the Internet of Things. Since the drones can be programmed using UDP this makes Node-RED a logical choice for building advanced drone missions. In other words, the possibilities of autonomous missions are limitless with DroneBlocks. With all of this, the ultimate goal is not only to get students interested in STEM, but teach real-world applications of drone technology.
Professional Development:
For drone and coding education to be successful, teachers need to have complete knowledge before getting in front of their students. Therefore, we also offer professional development services both on-site and virtual through our Microsoft global training partners. Our one on one sessions are there to assist educators, walk through curriculum, and build user confidence. With the use of brain-based learning and coaching models we create positive outcomes across education and professional development communities, where technology is used as a tool for supporting more productive and engaging STEAM learning experiences. DroneBlocks bundle also provides email and online forum support, as well as ongoing curriculum updates with new courses and lessons.
