It is a term that is often misused as well. How do we know the true value of an ESG project? Well, at this stage, we don't really if we rely on grading systems, that seek to package investments in a convenient wrapper.

It is like the electric car, causing extra demand on the grid, and burning more fossil fuel for manufacturing, including precious metal depletion for batteries.

But it's not that simple. Some projects may cause a short term deficit in certain areas, and make up for them in plenty later. Some just may be mis-sold.

It is all about sensible balance, decided by humans, and by people who know the terrain, know the benefits locally, nationally, and internationally - and moreover who know the true long term sustainability of these projects.

Often overlooked is the taboo of commerciality when thinking about projects that are meant to give back, but this is a very important aspect to get right, as to further serve, and to make sure that the project continues to deliver.

This long term view can then negate perhaps some of the front loaded detriments, for a more greener outlook that really does help mankind.

You cannot ignore the full picture, if you want a full pictured outcome.

So, when thinking about ESG, forget about grading systems - be a human, and assess projects from a real-world point of view, test the financials, and take a holistic approach, in an arena that is meant to be... holistic in outcome.
