What makes a team successful?

Recently in our Kyndryl Hoofdorp office, we held an all day session on culture & collaboration with the ABN AMRO PCS A&PS Platforms team.

This kind of workshops, is part of the culture of openness and honest two-way dialogue we foster amongst the joint ABN and Kyndryl teams. The goal was simple; to talk about trust and ownership, to understand differences in how we perceive it and to jointly agree on how we can successfully collaborate.

For several hours, the team have shared what they’ve experienced regarding building trust and trusting others but also what they need to act from a position of ownership. How they want to engage together, but also how they want to socialize!

It was, an intense and creative time, that led to a team’s social contract; a list of agreements on how we want to collaborate and bring the best in ourselves and, our colleagues. What we want and need and what we don't accept as a team.

That kind of interactive sessions can be a real game changer for remote teams who usually only talk about work and collaborate on achieving goals. That is often without the full picture on how our background (culture of the individual, our company or industry culture, our language barriers, upbringing and many other factors) can influence how we really feel and think. Having that understanding about each other, brings teams closer and eventually lead to better results.

?At the end of such working sessions, you can see the participants conclude that a successful team is one that cares for each individual achievement as much as for the joint team successes. For whom my personal success is a team’s accomplishment and vice versa. And only then, you really act as one team.

?Thank you to all the participants @Amit Gupta, @Arjun Nagaraj, @Edwin Buur, @Edwin van der Wijngaard, @Maria Pena, @Rene Wagner, @Sam Price, @Sonam Sharma, @Suraj Kadam for this fantastic moment and Rodrigo Dias for initiating this!
