What Makes a Resilient Person?
How resilient do you think you are?
It’s National Stress Awareness Month in April, and I thought I’d take the opportunity to talk more about resilience.
Most of us probably feel like we are pretty resilient, and when we are faced with unexpected events we often have no choice but to dig deep. But, it is a surprisingly frequently requested training session in organisations.?
At the start of the pandemic, everyone was suddenly wanting quick fixes to help their people become resilient overnight. (And everyone was suddenly an expert, right?) However, this wasn’t the best time to strengthen the brain in this way. You want to be investing in resilience before you actually need to draw down on it!?
I have a friend who is one of the most resilient people I know, and yet after years of sleep deprivation even she is being tested in terms of how she responds to life’s challenges.?
Resilience is about successfully adapting to difficult or challenging life experiences, especially through mental, emotional, and behavioural flexibility and adjustment to external and internal demands.
Greater resilience is associated with longevity, better physical and mental health outcomes? and a better quality of life.

Why Resilience Matters At Work
Resilience is at the core of how your employees approach work and life.
Resilience provides a strong baseline from which your employees can tackle stressful events. With resilience, your employees will have:
So how can we build it?

How To Build Resilience
Building resilience is a slow and continual process of brain networking which equips people with a series of behaviours and thought processes which, overtime, strengthen their core ability to overcome and prosper from the negative and difficult events in their daily life.
Rather than resilience being something that is fixed, it is something that is shaped every day and is a dynamic process.
