What makes people happy at work?
Happiness at work is not a myth.
If you don’t believe it, maybe you didn’t look at it differently yet.
Let me introduce you to the 7 job satisfiers.
The 7 job satisfiers were identified after a study done on 1000 employees across different industries.
The study doesn’t take into consideration extrinsic factors. Those are the reasons that make us happy about the job such as salary, benefits, etc.
These components won’t make you feel content about your day-to-day job.
This is why this study looks at intrinsic factors: the reasons why we feel satisfied when we wake up on Monday morning to go to work. ?
1)???Task Variety
2)???Colleagues
3)???Working conditions
4)???Workload
5)???Autonomy
6)???Educational and Development opportunities
7)???Congruence
Congruence represents how aligned you are with your company under 3 main ideas (value, strength and identity).
If you identified 1 or more factors that are lacking in your current role: Is there an opportunity for you to work on them? Do you think it’s one of the reasons why you’re unhappy in your role?
If it's outside your control and it affects your job satisfaction it might be time to look elsewhere.
Another way to look at this job satisfaction model is when you find yourself in a situation where you have multiple job offers on the table: before going for the high-paying one, keep in mind this list.
No job is worth your mental health.
