WHAT MAKES MY STORY NEWSWORTHY?

Getting media coverage for you or your company can help with exposure but what does it take to get there? Obtaining news coverage is more than just sending out a press release and hoping for the best. There are a number of factors that contribute to a story being picked up. Stories that make people feel an emotion can be very appealing. How has your story made an impact on a person’s life? A story with a human-interest angle can help increase your chances of being picked up by the media because it adds a warm, human touch.

Location, Location, Location

Sending your news to publications in the right location is also important. If you send a story idea about something happening in West Palm to a news station in Fort Myers, it’s not really impacting the right audience. Be sure that you reach out to the reporters in the area that your story is most relevant for the best potential for coverage.
