What makes a great view?
When you walk in a hotel room how often do you look out the window? When you look are you disappointed or are you excited because the place you'll be sleeping overlooks a historic monument? I often wonder what do people actually think is a good view. Let's go over the basics.
1) The Water View
This is the view from https://www.theshorelineapts.com/ in Cleveland, Ohio. It's the classic water view with a touch of city. You get amazing sunset action but there isn't any ongoing movement. It has a calming effect and a wow factor when you look out the window.
2) The City View
This is the classic picture frame window from https://www.castoinfo.com/retail/portfolio/ohio/the-dexter/ in Cleveland, Ohio we're half way done with. You don't get the sunset but you do see fireworks from stadiums. There isn't much movement when looking around the city but you do get fog rolling over the buildings which is calming in the morning over a cup of coffee.
3) The Stadium View
This is a picture from ten years ago on the roof of a high-rise I was working on. It's what I call the stadium view with a touch of river. The up side is you get the fireworks from the stadium on summer nights but you also could be woken up by noise because you're so close. A bonus is you get the river action with boats going back and forth.
What do you think makes up the best view? When we're looking at real estate it's always a consideration but is it your driving force or just a piece of the puzzle? Leave your thoughts and I may make a follow up piece with more insight.

4 年I’m little partial to This View.
Every time I book a room, after tossing my case on the bed I look out the window, and I pray that I’m not looking at a wall!

4 年City view during the week, and water view on the weekend!
Want to own real estate? Too busy to manage it? Passive boutique hotel investing might be the answer.
4 年With limited-service hotels, I don't really think about the views. It's all about boring things like highway access!
