This post is for anyone who knows they need a website but are too overwhelmed to know where to start. The good news is, Christina Hills, is an expert at breaking down the complex into simple, step by step methods that literally anyone can follow to create a website that actually becomes an asset that works FOR you and your business.
She’s helped thousands of startups and budding entrepreneurs create simple conversion-focused websites for their businesses.
We’ve interviewed Christina for some insight on the best place to start and what a good website should actually look like (and do) for entrepreneurs and small businesses.
Even if you are new to digital marketing and are not the “techie” type.
Let’s dive in…
Josh: For those who are just getting started with their business or who have not spent much timing working on a professional website, what would you say are the key elements that make a “good” website?
Christina: One of the key elements that makes a good website is a clear call to action. Every website should have a specific action you want the person to take. The action could be:
- to opt-in for a free report...
- to call for a free consultation...
- to buy a specific product...
- to show up for an online event, etc.
A clear call to action enables you to engage with the visitor and begin to build a relationship with him or her.
Another key element of a good website is that it should be apparent who is the target market. The website should be about your visitors’ needs and wants, not about you. It should offer a solution to a specific problem or need that they have. It shouldn’t be all about you and how great you are. A good website draws the visitor in by painting a picture of how your product or service can help them.
Josh: With everything that is going on in the world at the moment, why is right NOW a good time to learn more about website creation?
Christina: With the world rapidly going virtual right now, we don’t have as many opportunities to be face to face. Now is the perfect time to learn how to create your website from scratch or how to manage your existing website. Even though we are connecting via online webinar platforms, your website is your calling card.
It’s where people will go to learn more about you and what you offer. Plus, with everyone staying at home, many people have a little more time in their day since events and activities have been canceled.
This extra time is a great opportunity to build or improve your site so that it reflects you and your business. That way, once lockdown is over, you can hit the ground running.
Josh: Tell us about your upcoming masterclass, “The Big Picture Overview of Creating an Online Business”? What can viewers take away from this free training?
Christina: There are a lot of pieces that go together to create a successful online business. Many feel overwhelmed and unsure of how to start their online business. The barrage of information coming from all directions makes people feel overwhelmed and frozen.
In this masterclass, I cover how to sell your services online, how to use email marketing to build lucrative relationships, how to use social media to connect with your target market, and much more. You’ll learn how to set yourself up for massive success in your online business.
(If you want free access to this you can get all of the details here)
Josh: What level of expertise do you have to have in website development to get started on your site? Do you have to be a “techie” to take something from your training?
Christina: No, you definitely don’t have to be a techie or have a background in website development or coding to take my full training, called the Website Creation Workshop. It really is for anyone.
The great thing about using WordPress as a platform is that you can choose to build a super simple website, or you can build a complex website for a Fortune 500 company. WordPress works great for businesses of all sizes. The majority of my students do not have any website design experience coming into the course. Through detailed videos and live coaching calls, I walk you step by step through the process of building your own website from scratch.
Josh: Anything other words for people who want to build a WordPress website on their own?
Christina: What are you waiting for? Now is the perfect time, while we are all in lockdown, to get your website looking the way you want it to look. For many people business has slowed down a bit, so it makes sense to put your time and energy into business building.
Why wait? Now is the time to start building the website you’ve dreamed of, or to take control of your website from that expensive website designer. Once you start, you’ll be empowered to create a website that reflects you, your business, your values, and the change that you’d like to make in this world.
