?? Calling all PCN Clinical Directors and Senior Leaders, our 3rd cohort of PCN Plus will start on Thursday 13th June and we’d love for you to join us
On 17th?April, I teamed up with Dr Andrew Foster and Dr Hussain Gandhi – Hosts of eGPLearning and Ben Gowland , host of the General Practice Podcast to host our 2nd?PCN Plus live conference.?
We had 90 people turn up in person, and 150 join online to share and discuss the future, challenges and opportunities for #PrimaryCareNetworks.?
Here is what some of the delegates said:
“A brave choice to put something which can evoke strong negative as well as positive reactions I thought but an excellent one and certainly in keeping with the need to "keep looking forward". An example of one size doesn't fit all!”
“The information links, organisation, etc. was of a really high standard and the agenda was varied, useful and relevant - thanks to everyone involved”.
“Another lively discussion that helped everyone look up at the horizon of what can be. This is not something primary care gets a chance to do often or in a productive way. Well done”.
At THC, we try to collaborate as much as possible. It's great to pull on the experience, support and knowledge of Ben,?Andy and Gandhi, and I have been reflecting on why it is that we work well together.??I think it’s because:
?? We all have a shared desire to support Primary Care Networks?and provide valuable content.?
????We know our roles in the group and play to each other strengths.?
???We trust each other, and decisions can be made even if some of us can't make the meeting.
???We are hugely supportive of each other.
???We value diversity of thought and experience, and there is no ego or hierarchy.
???We know how to disagree?and it not be an issue.
???We have a laugh.?
???We all bring equal measures to the table.
???I have known Ben for 8 years and Andy and Gandhi for around 2 and a half years, so this partnership didn’t happen overnight.
???We spent a lot of time talking and discussing our common ground and blind spots. None of us came to the table saying that I have all the answers.?
?? We give more than we take from each other. This is hugely important to me.
?? We always come up with suggestions and solutions. We never spend time debating why something can’t be done.?
?
I know we are not a Primary Care Network, but I believe the principles above can be applied as we do have a business arrangement, and we are business owners.
?
I’m sure if you googled what make a success partnership you get billions of answers, but in my experience it boils down to having:
?
???Shared vision goals?
???Shared values and trust
??Excellent communication and complementary skills and strengths:
Do you have this in your team? And if not, can you identify the root cause of the issue?
