What will make Nigerian cities be like Dubai?

I went to Dubai, everything puzzled me. Things like the following:
- Steady Power Supply.
- Tarred roads.
- World-class metro station.
- Dubai mall and technology display from ZABEEL.
- The tallest building.
- The bus station with an automated time of arrival.
- The Tourist centers and creative packages, etc.
Then, the following questions came to me,
- What will make Nigeria be like Dubai in terms of technologies?
- What are the available resources that can help us start up the process?
- How many years did it take Dubai to achieve its vision of a city with great technologies and how many years will it take us to achieve ours?
- How can we improve our tourist centers and intertwine it with our cultural heritage?
……and a lot more questions kept popping up in my mind. I am an Electrical/Electronics Engineer by profession, and I know we have what it takes to achieve these things.
The laudable fact of the whole process is that while on this project, we will end up creating jobs for millions of Nigerians.
The truth is that, if a Nigerian president could come up with only one agenda: “Steady Power Supply”, within his/her 4 years tenure, that alone can change the face of Nigeria automagically.
Do you think Nigerian cities can adapt to Dubai’s technologies? Please share your thoughts.

4 年It solely depends on the government to kick-start it. First of all, full privatisation of the power sector. We need light in this country, there's a reason God created light first.

4 年Just as you rightly stated on your first point, "Steady Power" We can start from this and other things will follow if we must copy Dubai's technology. We have what it takes to make this happen in Nigeria.?
