What maintenance does artificial turf need
Artificial grass can withstand most things the weather throws at it, however it does need a little maintenance to keep it looking its very best. That said, your fake lawn will not need anywhere near as much maintenance as the real thing – with no more mowing or seeding bare patches to worry about. The trick to keeping your synthetic grass looking pristine is “little and often.”
Tips and tricks
Heavy usage of the grass can result in the pile being trodden down and flattening. To keep the blades upright, use a stiff broom to lift the blades of grass back up on a regular basis. Brushing of course also helps to dislodge any debris. Leaves and other similar garden waste should not be left to rot on the artificial lawn. Not only does it stop your new grass from looking as amazing as it can, but the build-up of rotten waste can affect drainage. Simply use a stiff broom, leaf blower, or do it the old fashioned way and pick up any larger debris by hand. In sporting facilities or playgrounds, regularly brushing the grass and removing debris is an easy way of making sure that the grass remains in prime condition for years to come.
Fortunately, weeds are a thing of the past with artificial grass. FoestGrass artificial grass is installed in conjunction with a weed membrane – a lightweight material that sits beneath the grass – that prevents weeds growing through.
Artificial grass and pets
Artificial grass is often used in kennels or for pet enclosures, and as well as being completely pet safe, artificial grass is also a breeze to maintain in these locations. Urine can be simply hosed away, whereas solid waste can be easily removed and disposed of. If preferred, you can even use a light (and eco-friendly) detergent to keep the area as clean and hygienic as possible.
If you notice any stubborn stains in the grass, such as chemical spills, these can usually be removed by washing the grass with hot soapy water, or by using cleaning spirits if this doesn’t work.
Our artificial grass is extremely durable and should look great for years to come.
