What to look for in an Interview Coach or Resume Writer

Hey friend,

Happy Monday! Hope you had a lovely weekend. I spent mine attending watching a friend’s wedding on Zoom (it was a small family-only wedding) and doing some spring cleaning.

I’ll be real with you, my line of work is pretty unique. A lot of my clients tell me that they had no idea interview coaches even EXIST before they found me!

With the hiring process becoming more complex over the years, there’s been a rising number of professionals offering services on everything from resume writing, to interview prep, to salary negotiation and beyond.

On one hand, this is great! More and more job seekers are finding they need specialized help, so it’s?good?that the market is growing to meet this demand. On the other hand, this also means there’s a lot of noise to sift through if you find yourself trying to find the right interview coach or resume writer for you.

The job search is hard as is on its own; finding a resume writer or interview coach you trust doesn’t have to be.

That’s why today, I’m sending you an article I just published to help make the process easier for you: “What to look for in an interview coach or resume writer?”

When you click the link below, you’ll read all about green and red flag to look out for, like:

???Why your resume writer shouldn’t be scaring you about ATS

???Promises your coach shouldn’t be making

??Certifications and credentials to ask about

??Why a higher price point can actually be a good thing

I’m a big believer that transparency helps us make better decisions, so if you’ve been thinking about hiring a resume writer (or interview coach ??), give it a read!

This is such an important article for people. All the coaching budget in the world won't help someone if they hire a disreputable coach! Also...people need to really understand what type of resource they need help from. I wrote a blog a while back that talks about coaches vs resume writers vs recruiters. Here it is! https://www.dianaalt.com/blog/demystifying-career-coaching-and-recruiting-roles

Exciting! I hired my first assistant last month, and the whole process was overwhelming. Getting advice from trusted pros like Mark, Kathleen, Kali, and Diana is so helpful for my future hires.
