What Living In LinkedIn Land For 14 Months Taught Me: Part 1 - How I Met LinkedIn

PART 1: How I Met LinkedIn

I've been as open and transparent as someone can be when talking about my journey over the last several years. My journey that includes life and career and everything in between. I've been deliberate in the hopes that the struggles, the catalysts and the hurdles I unexpectedly faced - that I used to ultimately become fearless and charge forward- could benefit others who were/are facing similar situations.

After a series of relentless personal and professional hardships, I took the necessary time off to re-group, reboot and ultimately refresh my mental, emotional and physical health - giving me the necessary vantage points I needed to realize what was truly important in my life - MY PURPOSE!

The path set forward for me from when I was a young girl, the expectations that continued to dictate my journey - both as a result of my loving and supportive upbringing, as well as society's rules of what was expected - coupled with the rebel in me for always wanting to follow my own path while walking to the beat of my own drum, brought me to LinkedIn back in 2017.

Having been a full-time employee in the corporate space for many years, while raising my family, I never had the time or the inclination to become active on social media. Yes, of course, social media was definitely part of my marketing mix of strategies as I continued to build campaigns to brand the companies I worked for, however, it wasn't a part of MY brand strategy.

So when I initially joined LinkedIn, my objective was to look for and land a job. What I discovered was so much more!

Stay tuned for Part 2 of a multi-part series.
