“Videos are too hard”
“Videos are overwhelming”
“Video takes too long”
“Video isn't for me!”
I’ve heard all of these and more from clients over the last 6+ years of coaching people to present to camera.
All of these are totally understandable. They are completely relatable.
Smartphone video creation is a one-person job. You become the producer, director, location scout, scriptwriter, wardrobe, and the talent!
Some people thrive in this whilst many others, well, they don’t (and by ‘many others’ I mean most of the people I work with!)
Buuuttttt...
How often do we approach new skills with these thought patterns? Especially when they push us out from underneath our comfort zone?
All. The. Time!
Part of our growth and development means reconditioning ourselves - our beliefs and our behaviours. It’s not easy work, but here's the thing...
Is your client/customer finding your video “too hard” or “overwhelming” when they discover it?
领英推荐
Probably not. Instead they may be thinking..
“Oh, that's the woman who runs that business, she seems really lovely, I was thinking about sending her a DM.”
Or, “Oh, that's clearer ” and “I see, that's what they do/offer”
And., “I’m so glad they did this video so I didn’t have to scroll through tabs and pages on their website or their LinkedIn activity to find this” etc, etc
My point here is how often are you thinking about video from your customer’s perspective?
When you are faced with the option of learning new communication skills - new 3D sensorial video skills - perhaps you need to place your audience further up the list and think about it from their point of view?
If you are - great! You know, there are lots of audiences who prefer blogs and other forms of communications. If you’re not, I encourage you to look at the behaviours of your audiences. Your internal stakeholders and your customer facing ones. Are they in video land? If so, do you think maybe you could be too?
I mean, if you knew all your customers went to the local farmers market on a Wednesday wouldn’t you be there too? At least.. sometimes?
So reflect on this one...
Are you helping to harness and improve their experience with you/your business (whilst simultaneously improving your brand and business and sales and relationships and connection!!) ?
Whether you are an entrepreneur, a recruiter, or a CEO, this doesn’t need to be hard or overwhelming. Your videos do not need to be highly-produced on huge budgets. No... we simply need you and your smartphone for your digital presence and comms to start reaching your people!
If you and your team need a hand, get in touch! I run webinars and tailored training to suit your needs!
