What is it like being an 11 year business partner to Mark Homer?
Call it luck, call it fate, call it what you will, 11 years & 17 days ago I met a somewhat grumpy man (so I thought) at the bar at the Peterborough Holiday Inn; the last person I networked with at my very 1st event with my shitty vista-print cards. It said 'Rob Moore - property investor' - ha! I had no idea but loads of enthusiasm.
Mark tested me & watched me from arms length. He recommended some life changing books, & introduced me to a property company he was working for, helping me get a job with no CV or experience. We forged a great friendship that year, possibly our most fun? Both recently dumped, so social & business merged. We went to every networking event we could, & spent a year learning about sourcing, developing, investing, & got a 'how to' & 'how not to' education while on the job. Mark protected me from making bad investment decisions (always politely) & taught me about investing, compounding, leverage, cost saving, analysis, finance & so much more. By the time I got us fired from our first property job we'd bought 20 properties together in year one, with Mark bringing the knowledge, experience, finance & leverage/no money down.
I somewhat pestered Mark to set up Progressive. His natural caution & 'positive-skepticism' kept my feet on the ground as I naively thought we could take on the world in 2 weeks. He ensured we bought the right deals, the good deals, knew when to turn deals down, & kept going & growing as the huge crash/recession kicked in. We were fortunate in many ways that we became one of the most well known property training companies by 2009 just a couple of years in, by virtue of everyone else falling down around us. We were still under 30 years old. It was his genius that kept us lean in those times when others had overspent & over leveraged.
Over the years he's been fiercely loyal & protective of those close to him. He's only interested in doing partnerships, investments, training, writing, etc if it has a 50 year or more shelf life. He dislikes rhetoric, fluff-waffle & short-termism. We still hold virtually every property we ever bought. He never flaunts his wealth. He never forces his will on anyone. You probably don't even know he's just launched a book because he doesn't mouth off like I do! He just gets on with it, doing the right things well, consistently, patiently, & keeps learning, testing & improving. He never looks for attention he wants his results to do the talking. Over 700 property units bought, sold, owned & managed is proof more than most.
It's very rare that he opens up because he's had his trust broken in the past. I was very fortunate to be a fly on the wall to help Mark articulate all his contrarian, little known, quirky-analytical genius knowledge into his new book 'UnCommon Sense'. This is only the 2nd book he's written in 11 years in property & 20 years in business. You'd kick yourself hard if you missed this great opportunity & I think this book says the most I've ever read in the most direct, blunt, open & to the point manner. If you'd love learn the popular misconceptions of business, finance & investing, & profit going against the tide, you have to get this book now: https://ow.ly/vz0S307E2hJ
I'm not going to even mention the great bonuses Mark is offering when you get the book now, because the book stands on it's own. You'll get them anyway. I can say hand on heart being the business partner to Mark is one of the greatest privileges I've had in my life. Without him I'd still be painting dark art listening to German heavy metal. Do yourself the honour of getting into the mind of probably the most knowledgable person on residential & commercial property in the whole of the UK right now, & an all round smart businessman.
And the most humble too: https://ow.ly/vz0S307E2hJ
