What it is like to Apply for a Fulbright Award Abroad, a brief idea, by 4 time applicant, Yvette Edery, Actress/Puppeteer MUA
It has been a long, hard haul taking my grant applications as an international artist abroad to the next level. WTF is even useful to others? Where? Why? I guess I did not know myself as well as I could have or it is just supporting very large groups of people; countries. Yeah, that is probably it. I got what I wanted though, and I have a super hip, super interdisciplinary biohacker application out. 4 done. Even losing a draft of this article has taken the heart right out of me.
Currently in my Fulbright to Israel NAT GEO, Scholar in residence, Specialist applications in 2018:

"Dear Ms. Edery,
Please find a letter of invitation to apply to the program attached to this email.
Our Visiting Research Fellow program offers students in the research stages of their MA or PhD degrees the opportunity to conduct research at the Hebrew University. VRFs have access to Hebrew University resources, including libraries, archives academic advising. They also have a student status which enables them to receive student cards, live in the university dormitories and get discounted public transportation. VRFs cannot enroll in courses at the Hebrew University, except for a Modern Hebrew course, for an extra fee (about $1700 per semester, depending on your Hebrew level). The cost of the VRF program is a flat fee of $500 for up to one year.
Before they apply, VRFs typically reach out to a Hebrew University faculty member with similar research interests and request that the faculty member host them or supervise their research in some way. They then submit a letter of support from that faculty member together with their program application. You are welcome to contact either Mr. Amit Zilberstein or Prof. Yonatan Loewenstein to ask if they would be willing to submit such a letter of support for you.
VRFs who do not submit an invitation letter from a Hebrew University faculty member need to submit a letter from their research supervisor at their home university explaining the necessity fora research stay at the Hebrew University.
Should you decide to apply to the program, you can submit your application online here.
Please let me know if you need any further assistance.
Best,
Amy

News. Gospel. Good News. What is it now?
It is to dance to the heartbeat of my baby.
Yvette Edery
What while I wait?
OPHELIA
Where is the beauteous majesty of
Denmark?
The queen rises to greet her! Her black gloves with diamond
rings on every finger pushing off her throne.
Ophelia is mumbling and singing. Like a child who wants to
vomit, she is in mourning, running flowers through her
fingers, rocking on her heels crouched, holding her heart,
wild, untame.
QUEEN GERTRUDE
How now, Ophelia!
OPHELIA
How should I your true love know
From another one? By his cockle hat
and staff, and his sandal shoon.
QUEEN GERTRUDE
What imports this song?
OPHELIA
He is dead and gone, lady, he is
dead and gone. At his head a grass
QUEEN GERTRUDE
But, Ophelia...
OPHELIA
White his shroud as the mountain
snow...
Claudius enters.
QUEEN GERTRUDE
Look here.
OPHELIA
Larded with sweet flowers which bewept
to the grave did go with true-love
showers.
KING CLAUDIUS
Pretty lady?
OPHELIA
Lord, we know what we are, but know
not what we may be. God be at your
table! Pray you, let's have no words
of this; but when they ask you what
it means, say you this. Tomorrow is
Saint Valentine's day, all in the
morning betime, and I a maid at your
window, to be your Valentine.
KING CLAUDIUS
Pretty Ophelia!
She dances along the wall, looking down, completely
heartbroken, broken through the center, utterly destroyed,
barely human, more creature.
KING CLAUDIUS (CONT'D)
How long hath she been thus?
OPHELIA
I hope all will be well. We must be
patient, but I cannot choose but
weep, to think they should lay him
in the cold ground. My brother shall
know of it, and so I thank you for
your good counsel. Come, my coach!
Good night, ladies, good night, sweet
ladies, good night, good night.
She leaves. Both Claudius and Gertrude have open mouths.
They look at the nurse.
