What legacy do you want to leave in life?

What legacy do you want to leave in life?

Today is Carnival Monday. Many people say it is an opportunity to rest, others say it is a time to enjoy.

I even agree that we need to know how to balance our personal and professional lives. What I don't agree with is that the goal of life is to just wait for holidays to enjoy and rest.

I see that work cannot be considered a heavy cloud, but rather a greater purpose that we use as a tool to leave our mark on the world.

What do you want to leave in life?

Reflecting on this, I started to think that the overwhelming majority of people don't realize that we need to find happiness at work.

If we are happy working, we don't feel extremely tired when the weekend comes. On the contrary, we even look for something to do.

Sometimes I come across this. Usually, on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays I have difficulty disconnecting. I really like working.

The only time I really disconnect is when I'm practicing Jiu-Jitsu. There, it is a true therapy that is good for the body and mind.

The importance of work in our lives

Normally, during holidays like Carnival, I really like to reflect. I see people who go overboard, who get carried away by euphoria, as if only leisure matters.

In private conversations, many people come up to me and say: Tiago, it is important to enjoy life, to rest too. As I said, I agree.

The only thing I don't agree with is that this is more important than work. There is an old saying that makes a lot of sense: work dignifies man.

If we are not able to be happy in our work, it is because we have not found our purpose in life in it.

And then it is time to reflect and change.

Work is much more than earning money to pay the bills. Working is finding your social role, it is evolving intellectually in this world.

When we work, we are testing our intelligence, our ability to relate to other people and even our resilience.

So, at this time when many are taking advantage of the opportunity to enjoy themselves, I decided to do something different: I took advantage of this time to catch up on work.

And also to do this brief reflection. After all, when we find our life purpose in work, we start to enjoy the weekdays.

And there is nothing better than loving what you do. Because when work becomes a burden and not a joy, we end up inverting our values and thinking that happiness lies in leisure and not in construction.
