What is Learn to Thrive?

Hello, I am Nicola Morgan of Learn to Thrive. I started my career as a solicitor in the City in 1997 and qualified as a teacher in 2003. I worked in different types of senior schools (selective and non-selective) and in a primary. Since my youngest daughter was very young, I have for the last 15 years worked from my bespoke garden office.
In the last three years, I have achieved an MSc in Applied Positive Psychology which is essentially, the scientific study of how people can thrive. I have particular interests in confidence, resilience, communication, positive aging, the journey of change and developing strengths. I am also a qualified Pilates teacher and Mindfulness/Meditation teacher as a healthy body and calm mind are key elements of thriving.
I have worked with children of all ages. At secondary level, I tutor English, English Literature and Social Sciences (Politics, Law, Sociology, Criminology) and coach resilience, organisation, communication, confidence and creative goal-setting skills. These are all particularly helpful in the months before exams.
At primary level, most of my work is around helping children to relax and enjoy their learning. We do, of course, cover the technical content - but sometimes children become anxious about the new pressures that they face as they enter KS2 and the 11plus and so, while I am a teacher and my tuition work does include teaching, it is with my positive psychologist hat on - helping children to enjoy their learning and thrive. As I have often told parents, children are rarely bad at maths “maths is an emotional issue”!
I work with adults on projects (or areas of their life) where they may be ‘stuck’ and need someone to coach them through how to move on. I can also proof read and edit work for adults that I am working with.
I am a guest speaker at schools on matters of Positive Psychology. I am an ambassador for the 50:50 Parliament movement and can present on the aims and purposes of the movement. I run a ‘Good Citizens’ club in primary school, teaching children about politics, who is in charge, political parties and the key institutions in our system - with lots of fun and practical exercises.
Finally, I teach Pilates! This is just joyous! If you don’t yet do Pilates, please try it. You will feel stronger, better, leaner - it’s so much more than ‘just exercise’; it’s a great mental cleanser as well.
I deliver services one-to-one, in groups, in classes, in schools or online. Please get in touch to discuss or find out more about the unique blend of services to help people learn to thrive.
