What to know when starting Google Ads

I'm sure by now most of you have heard of the father of all digital paid ads the “GOOGLE AD”, so you might be wondering why would I bother writing an article about such a topic well, there is so much information to navigate out there that it can be hard to decide what form and platform of paid ads are right for your business.


For those of you who don’t here is a quick definition:?


Google ads are a form of advertising on google.com and other google properties. They are typically in the form of text, image or video ads that can be found on most websites. They appear at the top, bottom, or side of a website page. Google ads can be identified by their small blue "Ad" text in a yellow rectangle.


So in this week’s article, I will cover all the basics that you need to know to make an informed decision.


The first thing and a very important point is that Google ads are heavily versatile and a great way to promote your business and increase visibility. They can be used for all sorts of purposes, from promoting a new product to increasing website traffic.


So what are the different formats of Ads that you could choose from?


Here is a basic list of the main Ad Formats out there:


  1. Text Ads:?

They are designed to be short and concise, so they can fit in the small space on a mobile screen.

Text ads have two main parts: headline and description line. The headline is limited to 25 characters, while the description line is limited to 80 characters for each keyword or phrase you use.

2. Display Ads:?

Display ads are also called banner ads, and they are typically rectangular in shape.

Display ads can be used to promote a product, service, or brand. They can also be used to promote an event or other marketing campaign.

A display ad is usually designed to catch the attention of the viewer with its design and content. It is usually larger than other types of online advertising formats, so it can be seen more easily on a screen.

Display ads may include text, images, videos, animations, and interactive elements such as buttons or hyperlinks.


3. Video Ads:

It is a short video that is uploaded to YouTube and then linked to your Google Ads account.

Video ads are an excellent way to promote your business because they are engaging and informative. They can also be shared on social media, which will help you reach a wider audience.

4. Image Ads:

It is a visual representation of your business and it can be used to showcase your products or services.

Google Ads offers many different types of ads, but the Image Ad is one of the most popular types because it’s easy to create and share. You can upload an image from your computer or choose one from Google’s library.

5. Product Listing Ads:?

A Product Listing Ad is a type of Google Ads ad that allows you to show your products on Google Shopping.

Product Listing Ads are text ads that appear on Google Shopping search results pages, product detail pages, and in the Google Shopping section of the Google Search app. They're also known as PLAs.


With the basics out of the way…Here are some of the main Pros and Cons of Google Ads:


Pros:

- The cost of Google Ad Campaigns is usually cheaper than other marketing channels.

- You can target specific demographics with your campaign.

- Google has a wide variety of ad formats so you can make sure you're reaching your audience in the best way possible.

- The reporting metrics that Google provides are in-depth and helpful for measuring how well your campaign is doing.

Cons:

- It's difficult to measure conversions from clicks since there are so many factors involved in getting someone to convert on your site after clicking on an ad

-You have to pay for Google Ads, which can be expensive if you don't know what you're doing.

- It can take a lot of time to figure out how Google Ads work and how to use them effectively.


Google Ads provide an excellent opportunity to promote your business online, but they do have their drawbacks as well. For example, if people don't click on the ad then you won't get any conversions or revenue from it so it is important to hire a professional who knows what they are doing to ensure that your money is well spent and will provide you with the best results possible.
