What kinda Investor you are – Purely Money Minded OR Socially Responsible/ Ethical Investor

Algo trading is becoming increasingly popular as stock market traders are using various strategies coupled with Artificial Intelligence (AI) modules to maximize gains in stock markets. More so as there is no regulation to control such trades. Traders do lose money in big volumes while adopting such strategies but there is Net Gain of phenomenal size in terms of net Return on Investment.

I really wonder whether the concepts like Socially Responsible Investing or Ethical Investing are also in vogue. Are there any investors who strongly believe in Ethical Investing?

Yes, there are.

Portfolio Managers are instructed by Investors to develop socially conscious investment portfolios based on ESG criteria. ESG stands for Environment, Social and Corporate Governance. Thus importance is given to companies which are socially responsible, environment friendly and ensure a high level of corporate governance.

Such investors do not wish to invest their funds in companies that-

1.???? Create pollution and degrade environment

2.???? Operate in ‘sin’ products like alcohol, tobacco, gambling, weapons

3.???? Threaten life, of their employees or society at large e.g. hazardous chemicals, mining etc.
