What Kind of Difference Do You Want to Make?
Gary McKinsey, Business Growth and Marketing Coach.

At a recent Golden Gate Breakfast Club meeting, Hugh Coppen quoted the great Jane Goodall:
?"What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make."
Hugh was speaking about the preservation of elephant habitats in Africa.
However, that quote stuck with me for an entirely different reason.
It made me think about the individuals who step into a Toastmasters meeting for the first time or those who join the National Speakers Association to sharpen their skills.
?They do it because they've decided to make a difference and understand that personal growth is integral to this journey.

The Power of Communication
Public speaking isn't just about standing behind a podium and delivering a speech.
?It's about influence.
It's about sharing ideas that inspire action, motivate change, and shape the world around us.
Whether you're a leader rallying a team, an entrepreneur pitching a vision, or someone simply trying to communicate more confidently in everyday life.
Your words have the power to shape a better world.
Finding Your Voice
Many people who join organizations like Toastmasters or NSA don't do it because they love the sound of their voice.
They do it because they have a message that matters and the world needs to hear.
Frequently, when coaching individuals, I remind them that because of their unique life experiences, they have a life-changing message people need to hear.
These individuals want to advocate for a cause, lead with impact, or help others through their experiences.
They've chosen to improve their speaking skills and use those skills to make a meaningful contribution.
Your Decision Matters
So, I'll ask you: What kind of difference do you want to make?
If you've ever felt that your ideas, experiences, or vision could help others, it's time to invest in your voice.
The ability to communicate clearly and confidently isn't just a skill; it's a tool for making an impact.
Organizations like Toastmasters provide a structured, supportive environment to grow and refine your speaking abilities.
The National Speakers Association helps professionals turn their message into a movement.
Wherever you are on your journey, whether you're just starting or you've been speaking for years, you know that taking that first step toward improving your public speaking is the correct decision to make a difference.
It's not about where you begin; it's about the progress you make along the journey.
So, what would you like to say?
And more importantly, who do you want to inspire?
The choice is yours.
