What Kind of Content is preferred on TikTok?
The TikTok algorithm is different from any other social media algorithm at the moment because of its discoverability and its recommendation-based platform. Everyone's FYP looks a bit different because we all indulge in different types of content. Every creators' audience also looks different so there is no exact video formula to know what content TikTok actually prefers. However, there are some telling factors that can increase the chances of a TikTok video going viral.
What do people actually want to see on TikTok?
Well, the short answer is that it depends. There is going to be at least one person that likes your video. Think about it: there are millions of TikTok users. For starters, we suggest making your TikToks either educational, entertaining, or inspiring. If were to take a look at any viral video on TikTok, you will realize that they either fall into one or two of these categories.
Ask yourself, "If this video popped up in my FYP, would I like it?" and be honest with yourself. Take yourself out of the equation.
Whatever it is that you want to post, post that. There is plenty of room for your TikToks and your niche - it is not too saturated. In fact, they need you to post that video because no one has ever seen your video. If you think that your niche is overly saturated, it is simply because that is all you see on your FYP.
What Kind of Content performs well on TikTok?
People want creators to be genuine and relatable. For those of us on the receiving end of the screen, it's becoming more and more transparent when creators are putting up a front. It is less likely for us to engage and support a creator when we can see right through them.

Consider this, look at the accounts you are following on TikTok. You've followed most of the accounts because 1) you would be friends with the creators, 2) you like the majority of their videos, 3) you find them funny, 4) you agree with the content that they are creating, or 5) you want to learn more from them.
While trends are fun to make and can bring the original creators lots of views and follows from it, only posting trends is not a sustainable way to grow your account. Instead, we encourage you to post content that is original in addition to occasionally posting trends. Find a gap in your niche and start posting about that!
