What Is Keyword Clustering for SEO? (Hint: 1000s of Ranking Terms)

Happy Saturday,

SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is still incredibly essential for eCommerce Growth!

If you have thousands of products, you will need product descriptions, category descriptions, buying guides, blog posts, product comparisons, and more.

Those are a lot of keywords and a lot of pages to optimize.

If you're still optimizing for "keyword universes", you're not alone!

But you need to be updated with new Google Algorithm changes if you don’t want to fall behind.

So I would like to represent an SEO method; Keyword Clustering!

This method helped me build a solid SEO strategy for lots of clients. It gave us the chance to level up their on-page optimizations to match Google’s technology many times.

Keyword clusters are groups of keywords that represent searchers with matching purchase intent.

Let’s say your brand sells accessories. You end up limiting your revenue if you only try to rank for the first keyword.

Instead, if you get your web page ranking for your fundamental keyword and the long-tail alternatives and related subtopics, your page would turn out ranking for 5-10X the number of keywords and get remarkably more traffic.

My recommendation on how to prioritize topic clusters is to check keywords’ search volume, their difficulty, and, cost per click (CPC) to understand their ranking potential. But first, analyze the search goal and learn what would you like for searchers to look for while finding your website.

Here's what Keyword Clustering will do for you…

Any time you cluster your keywords, you are improving your SEO, period!

  • It helps create better content for your target customers and it understands the user intent better.
  • It prevents the danger of duplicated content.
  • When it’s done correctly, it can be a proper instrument for supporting PPC, PR, marketing automation, social media, etc.
  • It can also help you get higher chances of earning featured snippets on Google.

In conclusion, keyword clustering requires research and focusing on content from an "intent" standpoint.

If you’re interested in ranking for lead generating and competitive terms long-term, you must do it!

It seems that keyword clustering requires more research than a keyword universe and more specific tools. What software or API could help with keyword clustering?
