"What is the key to success?"
People sometimes ask me, "What is the key to success?"
And I always reply that the best thing you can do for your career is to live your life; to live a life that is full, compassionate, understanding, generous, and loving-kind, all of which in some way contribute to your career.
Our life experiences, beyond work, employment, and our jobs, and when executed with sweetness, gentleness, and straight-out humanity, shape our personalities and the essence of who we are.
Some feel there is some kind of separation between business and the soul; practicality and spirit; science and Heaven. But there is no separation. It's all connected, whether one believes that, consciously, or not.
The truth is, a great career is the Universe's way of blessing and rewarding you for living a good life.
Certainly, there are those who succeed without any religious, or spiritual belief in some kind of ethereal good that is guiding the Universe. But the empty success of such individuals is not long-lasting, or somehow their lives will be un-blessed; not because of some "punishment" from Heaven, but rather due to the inescapable laws of karma.
And again, that development transpires, whether such a philosophy is believed or not.
As Emerson once said, "No [one] is an island. No [one] goes their way alone. Whatever we send into the lives of others, comes right back into our own."
So, begin with sending out good things to others; which will somehow transform into good things for yourself...in both your life...and career.
