What keeps me motivated to do more?
Childhood memories
I grew up in an engineering family. My grandpa used to be a chemical engineer and my dad was an electrical engineer. I spent most of my early childhood with them. Being around engineer parents taught me these two foundational reflections about life:
This basic, yet so important way of reflecting led me to approach every aspect of life with those questions in mind.
University memories
Fast-forward to my university years. After finishing my third year at the university, I decided to discontinue on my education. I knew that when I would graduate in the following year, I wouldn’t be ready yet to find what I want to focus on and pursue after the graduation. Thus, I took it easy and created an entirely free agenda to find out what motivates me and what kind of things I’m good at.
During that period, those two foundational reflections helped me find my personal rhythm in this life. What I realized, was how many resources I had consumed since my birth. And still counting, in order to get my degree and become a productive individual in society. This was a really depressing realization for someone like me, who is really competitive and ambitious. However, with the engineering mindset, you don’t leave yourself in a desperate situation for a long period of time. You rather focus on what you can do to make things better. So I did the same.

After realization
I defined my goal to be net-positive in terms of the consumption-production equation during my lifetime. But what is a lifetime? It is not a definitive value, since we don’t know how long it will last. Therefore, that uncertainty pushes me even harder to do more, to produce more before it is late. And this fundamental thinking keeps me motivated every day to produce more than what I consume/consumed.
Final words
Thank you for being part of my personal journey. I find it super valuable to produce ideas to make others life easier. So I appreciate your contribution if you would like to share your story too.
Finally, if you find my story worth spreading, please do so, and thank you!
Kindly yours,
