What a Joke!!!

Why education in India has stoop to this level? This question has been discussed on many staffroom crossroads but still….there is no clear-cut idea of this and its catastrophic consequences.

As being a teacher the facts I felt may enlighten this issue up to such a level. I strongly feel a teacher is the heart and soul of this teaching industry, not any principal, no any manager and off course not any trust or committee. Some exceptions are also there undoubtedly.

But the teacher is the one, who is most exploited in almost every dimension. In any private school the owner enjoys the absolute freedom, in order to appoint the teacher, decide their salary and duties. That’s why he become “mai-baap” or “big-boss” of school, and interfere in every matter of school regardless how much trivial it is. Many of times you can see the management / principals insulting teacher regardless of their effort for kids & institution, experience and qualification. As the recent case of some school teacher committed suicide, the situation is almost same in every private school. Any appreciation is a night mare or once in a blue moon. Some cut salary on the name of epf which is very difficult to acquire, and giving reason that this is your saving and our security. But actually, they deducting the employer and employee both share from the teacher’s salary. ?

As per NCERT a teacher must focus on development of child in all aspect, but he is over loaded with clerical work, even in the age of technology many pvt. schools still forcing their teacher to prepare hand made records.? You must teach very professionally in eng medium preferably in English nowadays in small towns also, if a child couldn’t understand he will rank you as a bad or mad teacher. Very possible the he/she won’t complete his copy, someday you will be asked to show your record and told that keeping track, a child is completing copies, is also your responsibility, and unfortunately if you force the child, he misbehaves and if you scold him or slap him, it will be a police case, his parents may cause to your termination or financial punishment. This case may be same if you find him/her in any ill-activity. In my school days when my parents see any mark they ask what happened, if I reply I was punished then the first question was “what you did”, and now a days “ How dare he lets teach him a lesson”.

After 6th standard kids are grown with their opposite sex attraction, so normally u can easily find the kids staring, gossiping or some time chit passing or trying to be hero in class. And for this if class or the teacher is being disturbed who cares. As rules says you can’t make a child stand out of class as he loose his lecture but what if due to him all cannot concentrate. Similarly, there are hundreds of rules which are practically impossible. But a teacher has to follow regardless of his interest.

It means a below Hr. sec. Level student is judging the MSC, MA, MCOM, MCA etc. degree holders teachers. Don’t feel, “what a joke!!!”. So, moral of the story is to hell with the moral, social, teaching responsibility just do the job for your livelihood.?

Irrespective to gender teacher always live in the shade of fear of not being thrown out in mid session as the owner reserve this right. In his scenario, how a teacher can develop himself, what he will give to kids, while he is just working for salary. When every year teacher is changing how a developing environment can be acquired as when kid-teacher become familiar, one changes. ???????
